I am an instructor who recognizes music as a powerful symbol of humanity and the dramatic emotional effects it has on people. I thoroughly enjoy sharing these experiences with my students, helping them to grow and become more acquainted with all that music has to offer. I graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education in May of 2013. I have been fortunate enough to play the guitar and piano in numerous musical outfits for the past ten years, having been featured on such festivals as the Warped Tour Festival, Music Fest North West, and The Fest in Gainesville Florida. I have also been featured on programs such as "A Prairie Home Companion" and "If You Make It - Pink Couch Sessions." I have a good amount of experience playing in front of large crowds, and am currently in two touring rock bands.

Writing is the act of transposing thoughts onto a page. However, complex thoughts do not readily translate into ordered, coherent phrases. In fact, if we could communicate in wordless abstractions, we would have little need for the essay form. Yet, wordless abstractions are often what we start with [and yes, sometimes you can end a sentence with a preposition].
While abstractions have their celebrated place in the arts, writing with clarity and grace requires a different--yet equally as artful--hand. Writers must collaborate with their readers, and therefore, we often need multiple collaborators along the way to make sure our writing does just that. This is where writing tutors come in.
As a tutor, I teach students how to follow mechanics and how to bend them. When confronting more rigid tasks, like prepping for the SATs, I provide students with specific strategies to unlock the logic of the test and pay attention to the right things. Overall, I assess students' strengths and weaknesses and help them gain command over their own style and form.
