Ryan B. Saint Louis, MO

About Ryan

Hello, my name is Ryan B. I appreciate the responsibility, dedication and hard work that comes along with being a music teacher. To me nothing is more rewarding than the students improvement and their personal feelings of success.

Since I have learned how to play a variety of instruments over the course of several years, I have learned how to gather and utilize skills and techniques that I have learned from many great musicians. That means I can take these diverse skills and pass them on to my students! And I am very good at finding just what the student needs to expand their musical horizons.

Training:

-I have been playing a variety of musical instruments (examples are guitar, piano, trombone, saxophone, trumpet, flute, and many more) for seven years
-I am very familiar with ...

Enthusiasm that spreads! His excitement and passion for music truly inspired me.

Ryan is personable, eclectic and respectful. I met him while performing at a show with my old band. He had along his flute and saxophone. Excellent with any ability level and of all ages of students! He is well-versed in many different genres and on many different instruments, although he taught me saxophone. His enthusiasm and passion is contagious!

David M. Saint Louis, MO

About David

Composer and guitarist David began formal music training at the age of 5 on the drums. He taught himself guitar as a teenager and began playing in local rock bands. Initially entering college as a Journalism major, his passion for music led him to Meramec College where he studied Music Theory with Robert C. Howard and classical guitar with Larry Bolles. From 1990 through 1993, he attended Webster University, and became only the second composer in the school's history to receive the BM/MM Scholarship. While at Webster, he studied composition with Dr. Kendall Stallings, Robert Chamberlin, and Kim Portnoy, Jazz History with Paul Demarinis, and 18th Century Counterpoint with Dr. Eloise Jarvis. During his education, he performed with many student ensembles and sat in on master classes by ...

I've been learning songwriting and music theory from David and it couldn't be any better. He's very professional and personable, and he makes sure to work with you, not above you. He shows a genuine enthusiasm for his students' musical interests and formulates instruction around them. David encourages questions, which creates a comfortable and effective teacher-student interaction. Between my weekly lessons, I find myself impatiently counting down the days until my next scheduled lesson. While the genre of songwriting that I've been working on with David's guidance has been contemporary Christian, I'm sure that he would be an effective teacher in any genre, whether the student were writing songs or playing them.

After the initial panic of trying to learn something at such a ripe old age I was reassured by other reviews that David would be the best bet. They were correct and I recommend him to any age group. After a welcome at the front door assuring me that I was at the right location, he excels in making you feel comfortable. He listens to questions and told me no question was stupid. Takes everything at your speed and recaps from the week before. Is thorough and stops you when finger placement is not correct so you don't begin bad habits. Looks up and acquaints himself with the songs that you want to learn and will stop covering a certain area if you do not want to learn it. He sends you home with just the right amount of practice work and after 3 lessons I feel like I'm getting all of what he's teaching and am improving and adding on more lessons. So happy that I chose David.

My Outstanding Journey

I can't say enough about what I have learned over the past year. To be able to play the gift of music and understand the foundation of it's existence, is truly an edifying experience. My instructor has been absolutely fabulous. His patience, knowledge and his keen ability to translate his knowledge to the specific level of understanding of his students, is nothing short of great. Kudos to you all for having the resident talent to make my, and others, dreams of learning to play music a reality.

Best of wishes to all this upcoming New Year.

I have a strong music background through instrumental music and choral singing. Tina has taught me to be a soloist singer, and my auditions and performances have greatly improved. Tina is highly professional, no doubt, but her best quality in a teacher is her continued support to bring out my best vocal performance possible. I highly recommend Tina for singers at any level because she clearly communicates her feedback and her commitment to her students' success.

I am a singer songwriter (in training you could say) and had struggled with singing for years, as I knew nothing other than mimicking and singing along with other songs. Tina has been able to remove some unnecessary mysticism around singing, in my own mind, and focus on progressively improving my songs. Her ear is spot on and always can identify what I'm struggling with.

She will take the time to ensure you are hitting the right notes and does not settle for your second best. Great at helping you understand everyone goes through their own process before the songs can sound great. She has helped tremendously!

Thanks,
Will

I've been casually studying with Tina for the past two years. My former vocal teacher passed away and I was stranded without a trusted vocal teacher. Tina really understands how to utilize the voice without damaging it, or forcing it do what it was not designed to do. She is straight forward with her critiques and gives amazing feedback to better your overall performance. She has built up my technique and opened my mind to a wider range of styles and song choices. Before I met Tina, I would only sing legit musical theater but I've been able to branch out to belting and jazz standards. She even had me start learning the role of Evita! I highly recommend Tina to anyone (beginners to advanced students) who wants to develop their musical theater singing.

Olivia is a wonderful musician, but more importantly - she's a truly gifted teacher. She respects children, and she has the intuition to clue in to each one's interests and abilities. We engaged her for in-one lessons for a school year, and I saw her interact and heard the reports from 3 children: my 6th grade son and his friend and 4th grade sister. She taught my son on his small keyboard - not a piano - and the only reason we stopped was that she moved away. She made the theory interesting enough to hold his attention, taught him the basics of composing your own music, and gave him fun exercises to hold his attention. She organized and held a Christmas recital and reception for all her students. At the end of the school year his school class performed a musical, and she even took one of the numbers, adapted it to his level, and turned it into a duet he performed with his friend, another one of Olivia's students. He started the school year not knowing about middle C and ended the year with an understanding of basic musical theory, knowing how to play dozen beginner to intermediate songs, several chords, and 2 performances under his belt. I highly recommend her.

Olivia taught my son Piano for about 4 years when she was in Rochester. She is a lovely and patient young woman who is great with kids. I've seen my son grow from a beginner to a pretty decent pianist under her guidance. She was very flexible with our time and worked hard to fit our schedule. She would still be his teacher is she hadn't left, so our loss is your gain.
