I started late on the guitar in a family of musicians. I picked up the guitar when I was 18 years old when I found an old acoustic at my grandfather’s house. From then I was self taught listening to Punk Rock, New Wave, and learning from friends. My love for the instrument and music drove me to really apply myself to really learning how to play. I would sit and just be creative, writing my own songs and putting little back yard bands together with my cousin and friends. Then, it was time for college and had to make a decision on what to study. Music was my passion and I never really taken a lesson before. I prepared myself by studying with Stephan Ferrara-Grand in San Clemente,CA for a short time to audition into the music program. I passed! My passion for music is the most pervasive quality of my personality. Consequently, passing that passion on to others is what brings me the most joy in life. My goal is to spread the love and appreciation for this unique and transcending art form through guidance, performance, and instruction. As my student, you will receive exactly what you (or your child) want out of the lessons-you are the one controlling what you want from them (be it any style of music, professional track or just for fun, music theory, and performance) and I am there to provide it. Music is nothing short of extremely fun and completely liberating.

I have always loved to sing and play guitar and piano starting from a young age, and I never gave up my determination and passion for performing. I began singing at age 7 and have since developed interests in studying pop, rock, jazz, opera, acting, and musical theater. I have played leading roles in several operas and musicals in Southern California and I continue to perform and study music. I recently graduated from the University of Redlands- which I attended on a music scholarship- with my Bachelor's degree in Music. I have also done several concerts, opera scenes, competitions (winning music scholarships and theater awards), and worked as a singer at churches, restaurants, and performing bands. With this experience under my belt I feel a duty to pass on my knowledge to students. I carry a passion to help people develop their abilities and make them their own. I truly believe that if someone wants something out of life then they WILL achieve it with dedication, perseverance, confidence, and by having FUN doing it!

As a 15 year old teen I was headed no where. I had no interests, and was failing my freshman year of high school.This is when I started playing the guitar and fell in love with music. As I studied under my dad who was a professional musician my mind started to open up. My attention span grew. My problem solving skills and comprehension improved to such a degree that my grades went up to the honor level in my sophomore year. I graduated with a 4.0 so I preach and stress the importance of learning a musical instrument.
I got into teaching only 4 years after I first picked up the guitar and immediately found that it was what I wanted to do for a living. Oh sure! Playing in bands is fun and I do play in 3 different bands at the moment, but I enjoy seeing my students grow in and with music most of all. Jonathan is a grateful, fun and energetic voice teacher! Having been a performer in venues all over Southern California starting with Performance Riverside reaching to the prestigious Musical Theater West in Long Beach, Jonathan has a passion for teaching young performers as well. Jonathan enjoys being a teacher around the Inland Empire having taught at Valencia Elementary School grades 1-6, Broadway Experience ages 10-18 and Fontana High School grades 9-12. Currently enrolled as a full time student, Jonathan too enjoys taking voice lessons regularly because “practice makes perfect!”

I started singing professionally at the age of fourteen. I have had leading roles in semi-professional theatre productions since I was seventeen. I have also been assistant director, musical director, choreographer, costumer and writer for many productions from West Side Story to My Fair Lady to Camelot. In the theatre I have worked with and trained children and adults of all ages. I have also conducted summer camps that were theatre workshops for children. I am a school teacher and I teach music and drama to children from Kindergarten to 12th grade. I have been giving voice lessons for more than twenty years. I tailor my programs based on the needs of my students. I am passionate about music and I love being able to share that with other individuals who are passionate about music. I taught myself how to play piano at the age of 17, and at 18 I taught myself how to play the guitar. Over the last 5 years I have learned everything from music theory to composition to songwriting and recording. I know what it means when students say "I'm too old to learn", well I'm here to tell you that, that is not the case. In music, as long as there is passion, the artist in you will become alive and help you achieve whatever your goal may be in music. With many years of experience in both piano and vocal performance in Los Angeles and in England and my teaching in the Inland Empire, my students experience a rich and rewarding time of learning.

I received my formal education in piano performance from the Royal Academy Of Music in London and in Rhodesia. I also attended the Kwanagoma College Of music in Rhodesia and studied organ under the famous Dr. Olaff Axelson of Germany.

I also attended the University Of Redlands where I studied piano pedagogy.

I studied voice with Suzann Luckather of the Alhambra Academy Of Music in Los Angeles and also with Maestra Marya Basaraba, director of the California Philharmonic 200 voice chorus.

I further studied with the international vocal coach and concert pianist, Armin Gazulamian.

My current vocal coach is the world famous tenor, Guiltiero Negrini of the Metropolitan Opera House New York.

I have performed professionally at Disneyland, was former musical director for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, and have toured professionally with many groups; including Phil Wilson's Rainbow Band and the AlcoSKAlics.

Teaching has been a passion of mine since the mid-'90s. I have taught students that were as young as 5 years old to 80 years old. I can teach and play a variety of instruments, including: keyboards, bass, drums, latin percussion, brass instruments and acoustic guitar. I also teach compostion, arranging, and conducting.

Many of my formers students have gone on to become professional musicians, teachers, and recording engineers.

I began playing guitar about 15 years ago and have made music an integral part of my life since Day 1. While working towards my degree in Music Composition at U.C. Riverside, I began teaching as a means to earn extra money. After graduating in 2007, I began teaching full time. Over the past several years I have professionally released 2 full length records and 1 E.P., have toured the U.S., New Zealand and Australia, was featured in AllMusic Guide (in which my album received a 4 star rating), have performed at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin, TX on 2 separate occasions, and have licensed songs to MTV, VH1 and Universal Pictures. Though gigging, writing and recording keeps me busy, teaching has remained the one constant, and nothing brings me greater satisfaction than sharing the joy of music with my students.
