Educated in Russia, St. Petersburg Mussorgsky School of Music, classically trained, with over 20 years of teaching experience, in addition to violin I teach Music Theory, Music History, Sight Reading and Ear Training to children and adults of beginning to advanced level. I utilize several teaching methods to best suit the needs of a student and make lessons enjoyable and productive. I introduce my students to a variety of styles while teaching classical techniques for lifetime skills. In addition to teaching, I play with South Bay Philharmonic,Campbell String Orchestra, and an instrumental Ensemble featuring Klezmer Music, Russian Tangos, Brazilian Choros, and Astor Piazzolla.

My name is Chris. I am currently a Jazz Studies major at San Jose State University. I began my musical journey at Dartmouth Middle School. I played saxophone, and was only mildly interested in music. I stayed in music in high school, but remained only mildly interested until my Sophomore year. I discovered the trumpet and began to listen to Louis Armstrong, and became obsessed with jazz and mastering the trumpet. In just 2 short years, I had studied enough trumpet to travel South America with the San Jose Youth Symphony Philharmonic Orchestra. This was an amazing experience that showed me how important music is (especially to people who don't have iPods and computers). After my South American tour, I decided to teach privately and share my talents with the world. I won a scholarship to San Jose State for music excellence in 2009, and joined the Spartan Marching Band. I am a Jazz Guitarist / Composer / Arranger / and Band Leader and teacher who has been working in the greater San Francisco Bay area for the past 10 years. Originally from the East Coast and Chicago I arrived in California in 1992. I hold a Master's Degree in music from San Jose State University where I majored in Jazz guitar performance and composition / arranging. I have been passionately teaching guitar for the past 12 years to students of all ages. My goal is to teach you the music YOU want to learn while expanding your musical awareness. I am a patient and understanding teacher who will attempt to inspire students while pushing them to their playing potential. In addition to teaching I lead by example performing regularly in various Jazz ensembles. I have released a CD of original works entitled “Rivers Converge.”

I started music in third grade when I started studying violin. I played in many school orchestras as well as with groups. After high school, I started studying electric bass and singing. I studied bass with Myron Dove who later played with Carlos Santana. I studied singing with Robert Bernard who was an opera coach in Palo Alto, California and was coaching Joan Baez at that time.
During the 80's I played bass and sang with my original band "The Tearmagnets". With The Tearmagnets, I warmed up stages for the likes of Robin Ford, Ric Emmett of Triumph, Clarence Clemmons (Sax plyer for Bruce Springsteen), Bourgeois-Tagg, Ronnie Montrose, Rory Gallagher, Tony McAlpine (Currenty with Steve Vai) and many other famous international acts. In the 80's my original song "Insanity" won 8th place in the Haight Ashbury Free Press song of the week beating our Jerry Garcia that same week.

I've been teaching guitar, mandolin, banjo, bass, and songwriting for 20 years, both privately, in music stores, and through various schools and adult education. I also perform and record as a singer/songwriter, am working on my 5th CD, and lead music in churches.

I am a tenor that will graduate with my MA in music from San Jose State next month. I completed my BA in Music from Fresno State and love to help students reach their singing potential. As an undergraduate student (and in high school) my voice was classified from everything from bass to tenor and this led me down some tricky roads. This experience has helped me understand that the voice is constantly changing and the only way to survive is to have a solid technique. The technique I teach is strongly rooted in classical singing, but with this foundation you will be able to know your voice well enough that you can sing whatever genre you like without damaging your voice.

As a performer I love to perform many different styles. My training is rooted in classical training and I have many operatic roles under my belt. I also love musical theatre and made my professional musical theatre debut last summer as Seaweed in Hairspray. I also love to sing R&B and pop in my free time.

My mother tells me I was reading music before I was reading words. One of my earliest memories is singing with my church children's choir; I must have been about four. I began piano lessons when I was six and in fourth grade took up the clarinet. In sixth grade I really wanted to sit next to my best friend in band class, who happened to play the oboe. So I made the switch and it stuck!

Most parents want their kids to grow up to be doctors. Mine saw my passion for music and so encouraged me to go to music school. I rebelled, naturally, thinking I would get my degree in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology (with a double-major in Music to appease my folks). After it became painfully clear to me that music was really my strong point, I decided to pursue it as a career. I received my Bachelor's degree in oboe performance at the University of California, Santa Cruz and continued on to receive a Master's in choral and orchestral conducting.

Thanks for checking out my page. I have been playing the guitar for over twenty years, and teaching guitar for the past 16. I began my musical journey began when I picked up one of my grandfather's mandolins at the age of three. Soon after, I discovered that my grandfather had a guitar in his garage. I felt naturally drawn to the guitar; as though my hands were meant to play. I taught myself until the age of twelve, when I inquired about formal lessons with a guitar teacher from my church by the name of James Garcia. I have played with a number of groups throughout the bay area, including legendary saxophonist Bob Mintzer. I hold a degree in music and have studied with teachers such as James Garcia, Rich Hawthorne, Mike McKenna, Doctor Paul Setziol, and Ron Dunn. My goal is to ensure that each student leaves every lesson a better guitar player. Whether you have been playing for a while but simply want to improve, or you are an absolute beginner I am the teacher

Music can inspire creativity and growth; it can evoke tranquillity and joy. This was the case for Cindy W. who began playing the piano at the age of ten and within a couple of years studied composers such as Debussy, Liszt, Bach, and Chopin. While only in junior high, she started teaching piano, rapidly gaining teaching and business experience. She held annual recitals giving the students an opportunity to perform for their parents and peers in a public setting.

Cindy studied music for over twenty years with Rachel Perez-Hayes, a graduate from the Juilliard School of Music, New York, and was considered gifted and talented with perfect pitch recognition. I have been a student and a teacher of drumming for over 35 years now, and i learn something new every day.
I have played in many bands, and play in many bands now mostly ranging in styles from Hard rock to Gospel and everything in between. I am the on staff drummer for Evergreen valley Church, Church On The Hill and St Catherines Church. I also sub for Holy Spirit, Central Church, and a number of others.
