Curtis L. Sacramento, CA

About Curtis

I'm a friendly and patient person who strives to be really encouraging towards the student's education. I believe a good teacher will make a huge difference in the learning process. I was born and raised in Northern California. I first began studying guitar with Musicians Institute alumni Scott Allen. After three years of private lessons, I attended and completed my training from Musicians Institute(G.I.T) with a certificate in guitar performance. At the Musicians Institute, I was instructed by Keith Wyatt, Ernesto Homeyer, Scott Parker, Al Bonhomme, Greg Harrison and Daniel Gilbert (just to name a few). Along with learning the standard curriculum of Musicians Institute, I performed in many styles such as Blues, R&B, Pop, Rock, and Metal.

Jay Jay W. Sacramento, CA

About Jay Jay

From the moment my fingers touched the keys, my passion for the piano never ceased. Starting as a self-taught player, I received formal training in the instrument at the University of California, Davis under the instruction of Marilyn Swan. There I played in several chamber ensembles, including a performance of Schubert's Trout Quintet. I have also accompanied recitals for fellow musicians of various instruments, including a double bass and a cello. I have also had the opportunity to work with American Bach Soloists director Jeffrey Thomas who conducted the UC Davis Symphony Orchestra in conjunction with the University chorus where I played both piano and celesta parts. It was a frightening and exhilarating experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat. As a soloist, I have ...

Great Instructor!

I really love having Jay Jay as my piano teacher. He's my 3rd teacher in my life and by far the best. He explains things the way I need hear them, he listens to my needs in those areas and finds ways to help me understand those concepts that I struggle with, and he always gives me just enough to be excited about our session and the next week of practice without being overwhelmed. I think he's great and I think he would be just as great for kids and teens as he is with this adult. He makes it fun and mixes the fun stuff with the not so fun stuff so there always feels like there is a balance.

I have only met with Esther three times and seemed like I have already had her for a year. She's a very dedicated and a very knowledgeable teacher. She taught me some of the techniques of becoming a good singer. I felt comfortable with Esther and never made me nervous. I had to stop because I'm focusing on my guitar playing but would like to go back to Esther in the future to help me with my singing again. I'd like to thank Esther for being so patient with me.
