I, Glenn F, a native Texan, am a recent graduate of the University of Texas College of Fine Arts with a concentration in audio recording, piano performance, and percussion. I am 25 years of age, and live and breathe music. I have a deep set musical ability and love for music and have been playing passionately since a very young age. I am relaxed, fun, patient, and enjoy sharing my knowledge to spread the joy of what has kept me so very happy. I hope to give my students the same joy to keep their view of life optimistic and continue to see the beauty that the world has to offer through music.
I have taken piano lessons for 14 years, and studied with world renowned performer and teacher, Nancy Burton Garrett, for 3 years at UT. I've taken drum lessons for 11 years and studied with Thad Anderson, the previous drum director for the UT Drum Line, and Tony Edwards, Principal Percussionist for the Austin Symphony Orchestra. I was a finalist in the Butler School of Music's Nilsson Solo Piano Competition, performing a repertoire ranging from early classical to modern music.
I have worked as an instructor in the Totally Cool Totally Arts program with the City of Austin with children and youth teaching hand drums classes and general music skills, including recording and drum making. In addition, I am a local composer and a member of the Austin Civic Orchestra.
I also helped start a local Austin band named "Cactus Peach", playing drum set and keyboard with an Indie Rock influence, all original songs of which I wrote my own parts for, and have also written songs myself. We have toured and performed nearly 100 shows at various venues all around Texas. We have released an album called "Eat" of which I collaborated to record, mix and publish with our engineer, Steve Krause, and the rest of my band. My pedagogy skills include creative approaches, motivation toward high standards, and piano guild completion for confidence and refining musical details in artistic performance.

Fitz-Gibbon and bass tutelage of Doug Bush.
I am currently a freelance musician and instructor in the Austin area and have worked with various ensembles and schools such as JDub & The Tease, The UT Middle Eastern Ensemble (Bereket), Ugly Numbers, Richland H.S., Colleyville Heritage H.S., Sherman H.S., UNT Marching Percussion Camp, Lanier H.S., and McCallum Fine Arts Academy along with currently running my own world fusion ensemble, Ethnos. Hello everyone, my name is Josh. I have been playing guitar for over twelve years now. I have a music degree with a focus on blues, jazz and classical guitar. I also play rock, folk, pop, and just about anything you want to learn. I sing and play, improvise, and write my own music. Music is my life and I love being able to share every bit of knowledge I have with my students. It is a blast to watch my students progress and get excited about guitar.
As a player, I learned what to avoid and what to utilize in order to accelerate my playing as quickly as possible and you will save time and limit frustration with my methods. I will teach you how to practice, which is the single most important part of learning. Effective practice yields great results for everyone. Often teachers will only explain the "how"; I teach the "how" and the "why" so you will have ample knowledge to grow and explore on your own.
I teach children and adults and build great rapport with my students. I was originally an engineering professional but quickly steered my focus to music education because it is my true passion. Being involved with music in any way is such a thrill and I bring that excitement into my lessons, keeping my students motivated to learn as much as possible about the guitar.

gfire has been teaching music full-time for over 16 years. Based in Austin, Texas, the "Live Music Capital of the World," she offers voice, piano, songwriting and DJ'ing lessons to students from 5-105 and she specializes in sculpting her lessons to the strengths and desires of each individual student. Her students range from beginning to advanced levels, and they sing and play a multitude of musical styles, including classical, pop, rock, r 'n' b, country, folk, singer-songwriter, musical theater, blues and more.
gfire loves to share her talents with her students. She prides herself on instilling a "sense of mastery" to each of her singing and piano students, no matter on which level they are. The students come away with a real sense of knowing their songs and their instruments inside out and with a real sense of confidence in their musicianship. Plus they have a lot of fun as they make musical progress!
gfire is also an award-winning singer-songwriter and "Yoga for the Voice" innovator. She has released 4 CDs of all-original music and is currently working on her 5th CD, to be released in 2010.
As a teacher, gfire works with students of all levels and all areas of interest. In October 2007, gfire became the only vocal teacher in the Western Hemisphere to gain full certification in the Science of Singing, developed by Ernest G. White of London, England. Her unique voice training program, entitled "Yoga for the Voice," combines this knowledge of the Science of Singing with ancient yoga breathing techniques. This technique allows each voice student to develop a "vocal tune-up" for the voice AND to discover what the natural singing range is and how to use the voice as effectively as possible. With the internet SKYPE technology, gfire teaches voice students all over the world, from Switzerland to the U.K. to New Zealand to New York.
Her vocal students have sung in touring rock bands, on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, in successful auditions, in karaoke clubs, in coffee houses and folk clubs, at weddings and for their own enjoyment amongst family and friends. Whatever level of singing training you wish to acquire, she will show you the way to achieve it!
gfire was also the main voice instructor and one of 3 main piano teachers at the Austin branch of Mars Music (now defunct) for 3 1/2 years. In addition to her vocal study and innovation, she has studied piano with top classical and jazz pianists, studied songwriting with Pat Pattison of Berklee College in Boston, gotten her full yoga teaching certification in 2004 and DJ'd at clubs and parties worldwide. For four years straight - 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 - she has won the prestigious ASCAPlus Award for professional songwriting.
As a singer-songwriter, gfire continues to write, record and perform with some of the best musicians and engineers in the world, including engineer Stuart Sullivan (Willie Nelson, Sublime, Meat Puppets, etc.), Hammond organ player Ian McLagen (Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart), cellist John Hagen (Lyle Lovett), fiddle/mandolin player Warren Hood (The Waybacks), bassist George Reiff (Ray Wylie Hubbard) and banjo picker Danny Barnes (Bad Livers, Dave Matthews).
gfire's original songs have been played on over 160 radio and television stations worldwide. She has toured in over half of the fifty states, plus the U.K. and Canada.
