I was born in Mexico City and started started my music education in the College of Music and Dance in Monterrey, Mexico at the age of 8 years old. I continued my music studies after moving to the United States in the year of 2000, and have been a member of many recognized orchestras, as well as received invitations to go in international tours. I received my degree in Music Education from Brigham Young University, and while studying there I learned all of the other orchestral string instruments which are the viola, cello, and bass. I have also has conducted many student and senior orchestras, and have gained 6 years of experience being a private teacher for all levels.

Lillian is a classically trained pianist. She is a native Cuban. She studied piano in her youth for eight years at the International Conservatory of Music and at the Raisa Olivé Musical Institute in Havana, Cuba.

She completed two years of college with an Education major at University of New Orleans.

The studio is located in the Chisholm Valley neighborhood in Round Rock, close to La Frontera.

I enjoy playing music more than anything else, its been quite literally the one constant for the last decade or so of my life.

I've studied music formally for the past 5-6 years (most recently I've just finished the guitar program at the Musician's Institute).

I've studied everything from general music theory to jazz theory to renaissance theory and all the techniques involved in applying all of these things to the guitar.

I've performed live in bands since I was 17 and have performed in a few musicals, in addition to live experience I've also had experience working as a session musician, a songwriter and arranger.

I feel that my thorough education [although I'd never call it "complete", always learning :) ] combined with my real world experience as a working musician can help you on your path to becoming the best musician that you can be.

I am an Austin transplant of nearly 6 years now. I studied music theory and composition in the Midwest and have been playing funk music in Texas since graduating college in 2007. I'm a multi-instrumentalist and think YOU SHOULD BE, TOO!

I spend most of my time either playing, listening to, or thinking about music. I play bass in most of my gigging groups and enjoy acoustic guitar/singing in my recreational time. Music is a language - the more you listen (critically), play (with purpose), and ponder music the more accessible it becomes. I often hear a song on the radio in my car, turn down the radio when it's over, whistle it all the way home, then immediately grab my guitar and try to decipher/decode/learn it. A great exercise!

I started learning guitar at the tender age of six and began playing piano and guitar in church choir from age twelve. Before too long I was handling weddings and playing happy hour at local bars. At one time or another I may have had a Jimi Hendrix cover band. In college I worked for many years under the classical guitar tutelage of Benito Ramos. I studied piano and Music Theory under Dr. Bruce JG Kotowich, Dr. Dan Keast, Dr. Kathryn Hoppe among others. I've played many of the local music venues in Austin. My musical journey was a stubborn one. I refused to learn to read music until I was forced to because all my musical heroes couldn't read. Honestly I think it makes me a good teacher because I know both sides. Also I am an autodidact; most of what I know I learned listening to albums over and over and imitating what I heard.

I began piano lessons at age 8, and joined choir at age 10. I have played orchestral instruments since the age of 11, and have continued my musical education for over 20 years. I have had a lot of performing experience, as well as teaching experience. After playing with my collegiate symphonies and bands, I taught in the public school system for 7 years. I have continued to teach music lessons from 2000.

As a former public school orchestra teacher, I specialize in public school methods, and the repertoire associated with progressing in in the school system. This includes classical music, Jazz, Rock, and Pop. While I follow the Bastien method for beginner piano students, and Essential Elements 2000 for beginner string students, I am creative with expanding repertoire based on student desires and needs and am able to help students excel in other genres as well.

I am currently a Masters candidate at UT Austin in Vocal Performance. I received my BA from Duke University in Music with honors, and minored in Literature. I have danced, sung, and performed all my life, and I have enjoyed sharing my passion for performing arts as a teacher with Take Lessons.

Throughout high school, college, and my professional career, I have been in over 100 shows (including choral concerts, musicals, recitals, and operas). I have had challenging choral and musical theater directors, revered music professors, and world famous voice teachers. They have helped me build a strong technique for my crafts, an academic appreciation for music, and tools to interpret music on my own to present my pieces as an artist.
