My life has been devoted to music for about as long as I can remember. I grew up in Columbus Ohio and I began singing in church choirs when I was 5. When I was 10 I went to the St. Thomas Choir School in New York City to sing in the world famous choir of St. Thomas Church 5th Ave.

In 2001 I began to devote myself to the study of guitar and my musical devotion has grown exponentially since. In high school I participated in musicals as well as organizing many school concert events and running the school radio station.

In 2005 I began working on a BA in music at Kenyon College. While there I worked as a sound technician for live music events, I interned at a recording studio in New York City, and I have played in a number of bands and school ensembles.

During my summers I worked at Exploration Summer programs teaching guitar to 9 and 10-year-olds the summer of 2007 and teaching "Guitar History," "The Evolution of Punk Rock," and "Rock as Revolution" to high school students...

As a composer I have found it necessary never to stray too far from performance. The shear exhilaration one can obtain through playing an instrument is unique and powerful. I have devoted my life to trying to understand and master this elusive beast we call Music. As a child, of a peculiar spirit, I demanded my parents get me guitar and piano lessons. I felt an instant connection to these instruments and was compelled to investigate. After years of inquiry I ended up attending New School for the Arts, a high school devoted to the arts where I
studied music composition. From there, I went on to the University of Arizona to receive degrees in Music Composition and Philosophy with minors in Mathematics and English Literature. For my Masters' programs I wondered into the world of contemporary composers and experimental music at Mills College in Oakland where I finished my M.A. in Music Composition as well as my M.F.A. in Electronic Music and Recording Media. I have been writing and performing music since he was 15. Along the way I have played or recorded with numerous notable bands including Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees George Clinton and Parliament Funkedic, and members of Bob Dylan's band. In classical music, I have learned music composition under Dan Asia at the University of Arizona and East Indian Classical music from master musician Ali Akbar Khan at the Ali Akbar School of Music. I have been teaching lessons in guitar, vocals, banjo, and harmonica for 15 years. My lessons are always focused on whatever style the student is most interested in, yet still incorporate a dose of music theory and other styles to help inspire well rounded musicians. I can teach to any age, in any genre, as well as help with songwriting, performance techniques, recording skills, and classical composition. I am committed to teaching students of all ages and experiences how to explore their musical abilities. I have been teaching private and group lessons for almost 5 years.

Teaching Experience:
Started teaching private voice, piano and saxophone lessons in 2008. Attended Ithaca College in a full Assistantship teaching 12 credits a semester of class voice and applied voice lessons to non-music major undergraduates. Since graduating with an M.M in Vocal Performance I have been teaching private lessons to students of all ages and abilities for voice. Styles inclued Musical Theater, Classical, Contemporary, and Jazz. I have also had the pleasure to continue teaching beginner students in piano and saxophone.
