Through my experience teaching I have found that music is a bridge that brings people together. With that being said I am very laid back, my whole goal is to make the learning process a fun one. When I was being taught I find that I learn more when I am enjoying myself, so this is the type of environment I strive to create for my students. I can specialize in guitar, such as rock/shred/blues/ and classical. I would say my strong points are in that of shred and classical, so all you shredders, I’m your guy! I have guitars and amps on hand if need be. I also specialize in drums such as rock and metal. I have roughly 16 years of experience on the kit. I can teach fundamentals like rudiments and how to apply them to the kit. If double bass is your thing, once again I’m your guy. For
I have had my own Piano Studio for both group piano classes and individual lessons with elementary age beginners, transfer students and adults. In the Public School settings, I have had access to keyboards to use as instruction in general music classes.
Having been a public school teacher, as well as a private and group piano instructor, I've observed how differently students "digest" information, and piano lessons are a great way to make use of different learning styles. I emphasize knowing HOW to practice before you leave so you'll be successful at home, and you are welcome to contact me with problems during the week so you don't lose a week in progressing with your lessons. I've had students send a video of a tricky section to ask for alternative fingering, and photos to clarify how they are reading something!! I also perform with an orchestra and want to feel proficient among my peers, so I really know how it feels to make a mistake in front of everyone. I am here to help you feel proud of your progress. My primary teaching ...
Beginning students up to age 11 will begin with Bastien method. This curriculum is great at introducing interval recognition. I supplement this with fun pieces from Alfred, where they strengthen sight reading skills. Flashcards are also used as reinforcement.
Older kids and adults will begin with Alfred's adult course and progress quickly into independent playing.
For all ages - After the student has reached a level of more independent playing, the student/parent will help select the direction we take the lessons.
I use Hanon to aid in dexterity. Classical music, composition, and popular music are just a few of the directions we can take!
I have been teaching piano to students of all ages since 1992, both to individual students and groups. I taught with the Music Learning Center of Michigan. I have been a music teacher and choir director for a number of years as well. For eight years I have played the organ and piano for Church worship. *** Lesson Details *** Music should be appreciated and enjoyed. Lessons should be fun without sacrificing quality. This is the approach I offer to students. I focus on teaching independence through music theory and sight reading. Performance is an important part of learning so I provide two recitals every year- one for Christmas and another in the spring, at the end of the school year. *** Studio Equipment *** Separate room dedicated to teaching with upright piano, also has digital ...
