Daren has been teaching violin and viola students since 1999 in Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio. Former students have performed with the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Symphony, have been consistently top chairs in their school orchestras, have performed at OMEA Regional and All State Orchestras and several students subsequently attended college at nationally recognized conservatories.

My Background:

I have been playing the guitar for about 12 years and have been studying music for 19 years. I originally began studying music at the age of five, beginning with piano lessons, and continuing to study classically until I was 13. At that point, I switched my focus to guitar, and continued on to learn and play rock, classical, and jazz. I earned my Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies from Bowling Green State University and subsequently moved to Columbus, where I now teach and play throughout the area.

I have 8 years teaching experience, and have taught students on the guitar from as young as 5 to as old as 65. I have found that every student needs a customized lesson plan, so lessons with me will be tailored to fit your wants and needs, and every lesson we will actively work towards reaching your goals!

Evan was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, playing piano and guitar at an early age. In 5th grade he picked up the trombone for the school band. In high school his musicality led him to participate in multiple jazz ensembles, including the acclaimed Columbus Youth Jazz Orchestra. Evan graduated in June 2009 from Ohio State University with a degree in Jazz Studies performance.

Evan is a diverse and active performer from Columbus, OH. He started touring with national recording act O.A.R. in 2011. He continues to perform as part of the tripledip horn section. Evan recently started a new group, EOP, and they are working on an album. In this group he plays the trombone, keys, and guitar, and is the chief songwriter.

I started playing music about 18 years ago and have been playing drums for 16 years. I have played in styles ranging from, intimate free jazz duos to swingin' big bands. Acoustic indie folk to indie pop. Blues bands to country cover groups. All of which have been in a studio and recorded at some point. I like to bring this diversity and experience to my teaching, being able to give my students what they want to learn. And show them how to execute in professional situations.

I graduated from Capital University with a degree in Jazz Studies for Percussion, which is like a specialized performance degree. While there, I was in the top big band, top chamber percussion ensemble, and top small jazz combo. I was also in the wind symphony, rock band, and jazz percussion ensemble. Also, I was able to study all kinds of music and styles of playing. I picked up the bass and guitar, too.

I began taking private voice and piano lessons around the age of 7. I'm classically trained in both. After performing throughout high school, I studied Musical Theatre/Vocal Performance (Opera)/ Piano and Composition in a private college in NW Ohio. I have performed throughout the country while in college, finally settling in Columbus. I would like to help you form your craft into the performer you want to be.

Originally from New York City, I started playing drums when I was 10 years old and studied with studio/Broadway drummer Roger Mancuso. After graduating from Ohio University, I studied and was managed by the famous studio drummer/author Gary Chester. As a full-time working musician I have played on many national commercials, Broadway, off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway shows. I was signed for three years to Carrere Records, a subsidiary of Warner Bros./Reprise Records. I have toured Europe and most of the USA with acts such as Luther Allison, Johnny Winter, Big Bill Morganfield, Bo Diddley, Joey Dee, Gary US Bonds, Zoot Sims, Jeremy Steig, Bobby Lewis, Alex Chilton (From The Box Tops), Eddie Brigati (From The Young Rascals), Johnny Rivers, Little Anthony (From The Imperials) and many more.

Working for several Music stores, Sound Engineering Companies and Recording Studios has given me a well rounded view of how the world of Music works and I try to use that experience to help my students understand the maze of knowledge that is out there.

I have been interested in drums for as long as I can remember. When I was very young I remember trying to imitate drummers from the bands I was listening to at the time. I had a toy field goal kicker that would kick a ball through the goal posts when I pressed down on the player's helmet. I remember taking the goal posts apart and using them as drumsticks. I would use those "drumsticks" to play on the side of my bed when listening to my favorite drummers. My interest in drumming hasn't diminished at all since those days.

I joined the school band program when I was in the fifth grade and I have played the drums for over 30 years in a variety of musical settings such as marching band, symphonic band, jazz band, worship team and home recording. A group of neighbors and schoolmates that I kept in touch with over the years contacted me sometime ago and asked me to record drum tracks for them.
