Have you ever wondered if you could play the piano like the person you have heard of admired? The answer if Yes! As a private piano teacher for the past 20 years, I have had the pleasure of seeing students as young as 4 and as old as 70 enjoy seeing their talent become alive as we unlock what has been inside.
I began piano lessons at the age of six and continued for the next 14 years with private piano study. This gave me many levels of education about playing the piano, which I share with my 40 students each week. At the age of 13, I also began to realize that I could listen to a song, look at the chord and notes on the music, and put them together to make the song sound like it should. This was fantastic! I realized I could play by ear and read music, which is a strong focus of my teaching methods...to make sure a student is proficient in both areas.

I'm a young, enthusiastic piano teacher living in the Arlington area. My musical journey started when I was 10 years old when I received my first piano lesson. Since then, I have been studying piano with several amazing teachers, including some that have studied at the top music institutions in the nation, such as Eastman School of Music, University of North Texas, and the Peabody Institute. At current, I am finishing my Bachelor's in Keyboard Performance with an Emphasis in Piano Pedagogy at the University of Texas at Arlington and have also obtained a Associate of Arts degree from Tarrant County College.

20 years of Professional Piano teaching experience with children of different ages and levels. Some of my students have participated in international piano playing competition. I have a Masters Degree in Music Education. I have been a Piano teacher for children at US military bases in Germany and Italy, and at a Music Schools in Russia.

I have been studying music in many forms for most of my life! I started taking piano lessons at the age of 8 and voice lessons at the age of 15. I attended Southeastern Louisiana University where I earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Perfomance in the studio of Scharmal Schrock. On the SLU stage I perfomed in serveral operas and musicals, including The Music Man (Marian), The Sound of Music (Maria), A Little Night Music (Charlotte) and Dido and Aeneas (Second Woman). With my classical training, I am able to adapt to many styles that interest me- including musical theatre, jazz, and pop.

After graduation I moved to New York City where I spent over 6 years working with various acting/singing coaches and studying with acclaimed voice teacher Judy Hages. I performed 2 off broadway cabarets at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre. I also performed in Pittsburgh's Flash Opera production of Dido and Aeneas (Second Woman/First Witch).

I have always loved both the performance and education field of music. It didn't matter that I started taking Violin lessons (after a lot of persistent "bugging") when I barely spoke English. Music has inspired me to enjoy the learning process and has given me the opportunity to truly express myself.

I won a string quartet scholarship to attend the University of Akron for my Bachelor's Music Degree - Violin Performance. My violin professors were Andrew Jennings and Alan Bodman. I further pursued my education at the University of Akron through a graduate assistant scholarship for my Master's of Music Degree - Strings. I was fortunate enough to work with the Akron Youth Symphony musicians and Eric Benjamin as their Conductor.

I graduated December 2010 from Texas Tech University. I have my Bachelor of Music with a Teacher’s Certification in the area of strings and orchestral studies. My principle instrument is the violin and studied under Dr. John H. Gilbert as a part of my degree. I continued secondary piano studies and lessons with Dr. Carla D. Cash at Texas Tech University.

In the Fall of 2010, I completed my degree by doing a full time student teaching at Martin High School in Arlington, Texas. During my time teaching at Martin HS, the orchestra competed in TMEA String Honor Orchestra, where they placed third in the finals. This is the highest placement in this competition they have received since the mid-1980s. During my time in Arlington, I sat as a violin judge for region full orchestra and region string orchestra. I have a diverse, mixed-up, wonderful background. I have wanted to do something with music and performance since I was 3-years-old. I have been able to foster that goal through work in the professional film and television industry as well as professional theatre (and no, the word is not misspelled despite what spell-check would have you believe and I would love to explain why.). However, my greatest love has always been teaching. My education includes training in theatre, film, television, music, voice, and communication. I received my BA in Fine Arts and Humanities from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and my MS in Communication Studies at Texas Christian University. I am a member of the Music Teacher's National Association and constantly strive to improve both my abilities and myself. My greatest teachers, however, have always been my students!

I have toured across the U.S. and across the country from Japan to Europe playing for all types of artists in the genre’s of gospel, jazz, and R&B. I graduated from the University of North Texas with a (BAAS), and was over the University of North Texas Voices of Praise (V.O.P) Gospel Choir from 2004-2006.
