Patient and Systematic

Mike is an awesome instructor. He was very patient with me and systematically took me through the basics of hand-drumming. I am looking forward to practicing more and making enough progress to impress Mike the next time we meet up!
Andy H. Carnegie, PA

I've done a lot of recording (see my iTunes page), both live and studio. There are lots of little things to learn that can really help a student of music.

About Andy

Learn from an Internationally recognized musician! In 2008 I set two GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS for continuous guitar playing. I've performed at nearly every important music venue in Pittsburgh, notably: Heinz Hall, Heinz Field, the (old) Syria Mosque, The Electric Banana, Nick's Fat City, Graffiti, the Decade, the Hard Rock Café (Pittsburgh) and Stage AE.

Since starting classical piano at age 5, trumpet, french horn and bass have all been primary instruments for at least several years, but the guitar has remained since age 10. I have developed an extensive and well-rounded set of sensibilities from performing jazz, blues and rock bands, bell choirs, marching bands, orchestras and musicals.

Along with decades of experience in music performance, education, ...

About Alec

Hi, I'm Alec. I just completed my Masters degree at the University of Maryland, Maryland Opera Studio and before that studied at Baldwin Wallace Conservatory for my Undergrad. I have been studying voice for the past 8 years, and Vocal Pedagogy and training have been a big part of my education for the last 4 years. I am predominantly a performer, and can offer help in any part of the performance or auditioning processes. I also have a strong knowledge of Music Theory as well as Music History. Anyone can have a beautiful singing voice, and no matter what your singing style, or level of training, I would love to help you find that!

Prior to first lesson the student will be required to fill out a short questioner. This will allow me to get an understanding of your current knowledge of audio engineering and your personal goals and interests. I have been trained by the best in some of the best studios around. My students will gain a working understanding of basics of sound and sound recording. This will include acoustical physics, analog principles, microphones and microphone placements, digital audio workstations, and more.

About Michael

Prior to TakeLessons my teaching experience was mostly limited to hands on time with interns at the studio I work at. I am originally from the Pittsburgh area but spent 5 years in Nashville. While there I attended Belmont University for audio engineering. During this time I learned from the best in some of the best studios in the country! I also became an assistant engineer at Sunset Blvd Studio in Brentwood TN. Since moving back to the Pittsburgh area I have been working as a freelance audio engineer out of Soundscape Studio in McKeesport. I have been loving every second of it!
