Since a very young age I have loved to improvise and to create music. It is very satisfying to pass this on to others who are full of music inside but may not know how to let it out. If you wish that you or your child could get some help creating your own music as well as playing the great music already written, perhaps we should be talking.

Children don't learn to read before they can talk. So why should anyone have to read before they can play? That is how music is taught, traditionally and why a huge percentage of students just quit or have a miserable time with piano lessons. Music should be fun. Period.

My only real job is to make sure you have fun and want to learn more. Then you will do the rest and astonish yourself and everyone around you!

I have been playing guitar for 25 years. I took formal guitar lessons for seven years, have won numerous awards locally and nationally, and have been a professional musician for most of my life. I have studied music theory elaborately, was accepted to both the Berklee School of Music in Boston and the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles. I choose to start on a musical career immediately after high school; and did so in my hometown of Detroit. I play/teach, have written, performed, and recorded everything from classic/ indie rock, jazz, classical, flamenco, etc. I currently front my own indie rock project "The Static Dial", as guitarist/vocalist/songwriter.

I teach all ages; from very young children (ages 6-8) to adults. Music samples are available here on my profile.

I have a Music degree from Wayne State University, with a concentration in jazz studies, where I focused on performance and writing; including composition, arranging and orchestration. My name is Erin, and I'm a professional brass instrumentalist and singer who has been gigging and teaching lessons in the metro area for more than ten years.

I was classically trained in music performance and pedagogy at Wayne State University, with a focus on French horn performance and a secondary focus in classical singing. I am a current member of the horn section of the Lake St. Clair Symphony Orchestra.

I am happy to offer piano lessons for beginning to advanced students, and guitar and violin lessons for beginning to upper intermediate students. I teach music in all genres, including pop/rock, classical, ragtime, Broadway, country, jazz, and more - whatever you like best.

I encourage students to learn music they are interested in, and to have fun with lessons, while also making sure that they have strong sight-reading and ear training skills, and a solid classical background.

I am a former K-12 Orchestra, Band, Piano, and Choir Teacher. I taught at the Winans Academy of Performing Arts (Detroit) and Madison Academy (Flint). I hold the equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the University of Michigan - Flint with piano as primary instrument. I played piano in the MSU Jazz Band and UM-Flint Jazz Band. I am a musician and teacher, and I believe both professions require people who are passionate about what they do, patient, and creative. I don't mean to sound cocky, but I feel that I score high on all three of those things. I've played and studied music for as long as I can remember, literally. From my teenage years until now I've been involved in a rock/pop band (The Great Fiction) who have recorded five albums, one of which was mixed by Michael Brauer, a mixer who has worked on a couple Coldplay records. I've also been a music teacher for over 6 years and absolutely love seeing kids and adults reach their full potential as musicians. I tailor lessons and my teaching approach to each student's individual needs and do whatever is necessary to help them master their craft. I'll never let a student just give up. I am a singer with over 10 years of classical training and have been teaching voice for several years. I have performed in opera, oratorio, musical theater, jazz, folk and Irish ensembles. I can teach repertoire in French, German, Italian and Irish Gaelic. I can also teach beginning piano which is great for some of the younger students who aren't ready for full voice lessons and want to combine both.
I have years of experience singing professionally. I have been lucky enough to tour North America, Asia and Europe with different Irish groups form small bands to performing 8 shows a week in the touring company of the Broadway show Riverdance.
Singing is a huge part of who I am, I have been doing it since before I can remember and I love sharing what I have learned with my students.

Born and raised in Detroit, Sandy studied music from an early age. He obtained a bachelors degree from Eastern Michigan University and a masters degree from Wayne State University in music education.
Sandy provides private music lessons to children and adults alike. In addition to working as a music educator in the Detroit and Southfield Public School Systems, Sandy taught music for Cranbrook Institute's Horizon Upward Bound program and night school for Mary Grove College in Detroit. Sandy once served as music director and guitarist for "The Miracles" and has performed with many top Motown Acts including Freda Payne, Martha Reeves, Sweet James and The Fantastic Four, The Originals and most of the Funk Brothers. I have been singing and playing piano all of my life. I took my first music lesson I was just three years old I never looked back! After high school I earned my Bachelor of Music Performance and my Master of Music. I attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. It was in Louisiana where I began my teaching career, just over ten years ago.

After returning to Michigan, I began teaching K-12 music in both public and private school settings. I currently maintain a private studio in addition to teaching voice part-time at Oakland Community College and I teach piano through a community outreach program.

I love teaching, simply love teaching! I teach students of all ages. I teach piano, voice, clarinet, and saxophone. I have taught for over 25 years. My students have lots of opportunities for performance, if they choose to. We perform at Nursing Homes, Retirements, Festival of Trees, and Seasonal Recitals. There are at least 2 recitals a year, 1 at Christmas and 1 in the Spring, if enough participation, we often have one in summer with a party afterward. We also participate in the Michigan Music Association competition. I have also had students perform in Disney World in Florida!!! I have been in many musicals such as Annie, Gypsy, Rock Around the Clock. I have put on solo recitals. I am a member of my church choir. My students and I have fun while we are learning music! It is the best job ever.

Hey there musicians to be. I'm Jamie! Guitar player for 14 years. I've played all styles, from Jewel to Lamb of God to Mozart to BB King. No matter what you want to learn, I can teach it. No polka though : )

I've had years of lessons myself that provided that push and input I needed to grow on my instrument. Not just guitar too, I've played tuba, trombone, even sang in school choir up into college.
Speaking of college, I attended Macomb community for a couple years taking classes in theory and classical guitar. Also, I went to Berklee school of music in Boston for their summer sessions, I highly recommend it if you want to learn a lot real fast . It is THE guitar college, wish I had the money for it. BTW they placed me in advanced classes when I was 15 years old : ) smirk

I've been playing guitar for 41 years and bass for 30 years. I've held many seminars for Crate Amps, and a lot of recitals. I've been teaching for 31 years. I've done lots of group lessons at the School of Rock. This was very great experience. I'm currently teach at the Roseville, MI rec center group lessons. I studied with a guitar teacher for a year so I know my theory!
