I have been teaching music both in a k-8 public and charter school setting for 7 years and my private studio was started over 10 years ago. I am most passionate about helping my students discover their passion and working with their own interests to foster their abilities. That means I work with all styles of music. From Chopin to Led Zeppelin to Selena Gomez. I cater each lesson to the specific and unique needs and interests of my students. Music is Fun! I use my tools and experiences to help students reach their own goals, whether that be to perform professionally, to sing with their friends, compose their own music, etc...That means that some students will be very serious about their improvement and others will be somewhat casual, though all will be learning at the speed and temperament they like most. I've played the piano since I was 7, my trumpet playing began in middle school, I added guitar in high school, and the rest came with the bachelor's in music education I received...

I have a BS in music education, I am a professional musician/ composer/ arranger.I received my teaching credentials at SFSU and have been a General music teacher as well as a, band teacher. I have studied trumpet with Classical and Jazz teachers and big band arranging with Frank Foster( saxophonist and arranger with Count Basie Band). At present I am retired and teaching privately.

I have been teaching music for over 30 years as well as being a professional musician. I enjoy teaching because it allows me pass on what my teachers taught me as well as what my experiences have been. I have found that teaching music builds confidence in students, not only in music but in other areas as well.

In every culture that we study, music is one way we learn a lot about how they lived. If we don’t pass this knowledge on we will be forgotten. Teaching to me is not only a pleasure but a duty I must perform for our survival.
