I have taught voice lessons for about 7 years to children and adults of all ages, abilities, and musical tastes. I received my Master of Music degree in Voice Performance from Florida State University, and a degree in English from Knox College.

My students have come to me to improve their singing in many different styles, from pop music to musical theater to classical. I have taught experienced musicians as well as people who have never taken a lesson before.

I'm a extremely versatile guitarist that plays a range of styles from blues, classical, jazz, metal, country, and rock. Growing up in the western suburbs of Chicago, I was exposed to the sounds of Jimi Hendrix and Muddy Waters at a young age and frequently practiced air guitar, especially after hearing Metallica on MTV as a teenager. At the age of 14, I had discovered my favorite thing to do and found others to play music with. After playing in high school groups, writing, recording, and personal study, I attended Columbia College Chicago for my bachelor of arts with a focus on learning the language of jazz. I graduated in 2007, and began a career that has let me make music my life.

I began taking guitar lessons at the age of 11 with blues/jazz guitarist Tom Castonzo, a frequent performer, bandleader and teacher in and around the Chicago area. My studies with Tom lasted for many years and covered various musical and technical aspects of many different styles ranging from jazz to classical and everything in between. Throughout this time, I co-founded the progressive hard rock band Dream Haven, which performed with notable acts such as Mastodon, Fear Factory, Walls of Jericho, & Enuff Z'nuff. In 2003, Dream Haven released an EP entitled "Nostalgia is Five Frame." In 2002, I began performing in pit orchestras for various musicals including Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserable, The Wiz, Little Shop of Horrors, and Seussical the Musical.

My passion is teaching! I could search my whole life, and never find anything I enjoy doing more. You could call it my "calling," for lack of a better term. That's probably why I've been so successful in my career. I've taught students as young as 4 years old, and students who are in retirement.

I am from the Wheaton, IL area, and my strengths lie in guitar performance, songwriting, and music theory. I have a strong education and performance background as well as two years of private lesson instruction experience.

I have studied the guitar for over fifteen years, and have been teaching students of all ages for the last twelve. Specializing in lead rock guitar and acoustic folk, I have had the pleasure to perform and record with over a dozen acts at a variety of venues and studios across the Chicagoland area. Teaching piano and voice lessons is a privilege for me because the nature of the subject leads to the discovery of so many parallels within other areas of life. I want you all to know that I take this profession seriously and look forward to sharing our experiences of music and life, together. Let me tell you about myself. I am a graduate of the Bradley University, with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree; I received my Master of Music degree in Music Performance from Northwestern University. I have taught in my home and at other private and commercial settings. With 30 years of experience, I have taught all levels for both children and adults, including those with developmental disabilities. Paul has been teaching music in the public school system since 1997. He has a bachelor and master's degree in music education from VanderCook College of Music. While at VanderCook Paul studied all woodwind, brass, percussion, and string instruments, as well as music theory, conducting, and rehearsal techniques.

Along with being a music teacher, Paul also composes and records out of his home studio. He has played bass and guitar in various Chicago bands including, Reckless Maggie, The One, Chicago Sound Machine, and Windy City.

I have been teaching individual and group lessons for 12+ years. Many of my students have won trophies at the Granquist music competition and also play in local youth orchestras. My own youth string ensemble plays publicly at many popular local venues several times a year. I enjoy exposing my students to the finer points of being a professional musician such as the camaraderie, team work, creativity (creating harmonies, tailoring arrangements to fit student’s level) and of course, stage presence. I am very proud of my students. It is so gratifying to see their confidence build with each new skill they master.
