About Me

Stacey is a professional soprano known as an active performer in the Cincinnati area. Stacey has sung for 8 seasons with the Cincinnati Opera as a member of the core chorus and sings with Cincinnati's professional chamber choir the Vocal Arts Ensemble. She also sings with the North American New Opera Workshop and ascend voices. Stacey has recently been named as the Director of Artistic Collaboration for ascend voices.
Stacey has studied piano from the age of 5 and is great for beginning or intermediate piano students.

Stacey has taught students of all ages and with various musical styles. Her students have included professional ballet dancers with Broadway aspirations, an 8-year-old girl simply wanting to break out of her shyness, and high school students preparing for College auditions. Her students have performed in nationally known rock bands, been accepted into College music programs, they have been members of the May festival Youth Chorus, the Kentucky Governor'€™s School for the Arts, and have traveled to Europe with competitive touring choirs.

Stacey's operatic performing credits include Autumn in Charles Halka's Layover with NANOworks Opera, the Mother in Amahl and Night Visitors with the Clermont Philharmonic Orchestra, Testo in Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda with the College-Conservatory of Music , Mimi from Puccini'€™s La Boheme in the CCM's Opera scenes program, Donna Donna in P.D.Q Bach'€™s The Abduction of Figaro , 1st Lady in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and Juno in Offenbach'€™s Orpheus in the Underworld all at the DePauw University Opera Theatre. Other partial roles/scenes performed include Suzel in Mascangi'€™s Lamico Fritz, Countess in Mozart'€™s Le Nozze di Figaro, and Fiordiligi in Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte.

More than just singing opera Stacey is known for her versatility as a classical singer regularly doing cross over work. She regularly gigs as a jazz/popular singer accompanying herself on the piano. Her musical theater performing credits include Mama in Everybody'€™s Buddy: The Buddy LaRosa Story, Shelia in Hair with DePauw University, Ensemble/Soprano Soloist in Sweeny Todd, Sonia in Godspell with the Lakeside Players and Yonah in Children of Eden with the Lakeside Players.

Stacey received her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music where she studied with Barbara Paver. She graduated magna cum laude from DePaul University with a B.M. in Vocal Performance. She studied with Caroline Smith and Stanley Irwin.

Stacey is originally from Florence, Kentucky and takes pride in impacting her home community through music.

*** Lesson Details ***
Stacey is known for adapting lessons for the individual. Each body is unique and thus each vocal instrument is unique. Stacey takes time to get to know each student and caters to their specific needs and goals. She believes in well rounded performers working often on dramatic intentions, overall professionalism, and stage presence. She also prepares her students with their audition packages and stresses the importance of regular performance. Stacey is a very open and caring individual but expects hard work from her students.

About Me

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide sheet music for beginners (first year). After that I would expect the student to seek out and purchase their own repertoire (with guidance from me). They must have a piano in their home - if not, we can work out another location to meet.

*** Specialties ***
Singing is singing, regardless of genre - it is the different application of the same technique that results in a different sound. Singing is universal. What an opera singer vs. a music theater singer work on will be very similar over the course of study. We learn much from the study of repertoire we are not as familiar with. All students will benefit from a variety of classical and popular pieces.

How do we achieve this? Together we will aim for an evenness of vowel production, striving for consistency from one note to the next. Within the context of repertoire, we are encouraged to use the text and meaning of the words to our advantage, and we aim to bring out our inner expressiveness through self discovery.

We use a variety of methods to achieve this, including:
- relevant vocalises and excercises
- picking repertoire that realizes both artistic and technical goals
- encouraging active listening to a variety of styles

About Me

I started teaching piano lessons as a senior at the University of Texas. My students ranged from 5 to 9 years old, introductory to beginner playing levels.

I have an extensive background in music theory including classical piano training, contemporary guitar, years of choir, and personal voice coaching.

I have a special ability to work with young and inexperienced students. I am the perfect teacher for a student that is just being introduced to the world of piano. I am also a great teacher for those students who have a light background but are just starting to be re-introduced to the piano.

I can take voice students from beginner through high school levels. I offer voice lessons for anything from musicals, show choir, All-State prep, church choir, and personal/contemporary lessons.

I have a passion for songwriting and have an extensive library of personal compositions I have written and collaborated on. I would love to give a student the tools and confidence to write songs of their own, particularly through voice, piano, and guitar lessons.

My professional background is in Engineering and therefore I am well-qualified to tutor many subjects. I love math and have always helped fellow students who have struggled to "get it". Many believe that math either "comes to you or it doesn't", but I take the approach that each student is capable and I mold the tutoring session based on what type of learner they are.

I also help with test prep and essay questions.
