Kimberly is originally from Chattanooga, TN where she began taking violin lessons at age 6. She spent several years playing with the Chattanooga Youth Symphony and appeared as a soloist during her senior year in high school. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Cedarville University, her Master’s Degree in Violin Performance from the University of Northern Colorado, her D.M. from Florida State University, and recently completed a second Master’s Degree from Kent State University with a focus in Chamber Music under the coaching of the Miami String Quartet. Along with playing second violin in the Aidan Quartet, Kim has performed in several orchestras including the Greeley Philharmonic, Fort Collins Symphony, Cheyenne Symphony, and the Tallahassee Symphony. My mother was a piano teacher for over 30 years with contagious passion for music and her students, so with training in perfect pitch, sight-reading, and other musicianship skills, I began performing solo and in ensembles. I began playing the violin in 3rd grade in my school general music class and instantly fell in love with it. I begged my mom for private lessons and after a year, she finally caved in. By my freshman year in high school, I had decided that I wanted to major in violin performance in college and make a career out of being a classical violinist.
