-Currently teaching lessons at students homes or at a studio in Skokie.
-Over 13 years experience in teaching guitar and electric bass.

Will develop a personalized lesson plan specifically for you and/or your child or family member.

Studied at Roosevelt University as a Classical Guitar Major with music education and jazz studies.

My Story:
As a guitarist in my early years I spent much time reworking my technique and gaining insight in how guitar playing really works. My early struggles gave way to a sound knowledge of the guitar and music.

This was gained through no small part through my High School and college music teachers, through master classes of Manuel Lopez Ramos, Abel Carlevaro and others.

About Me

Hi, I'm Ian! I love guitar! I have taught guitar to people of all age groups and levels in 4 music stores over the past 8 years. Now I teach at my home/studios and student's homes. When I'm not teaching, I'm running my all ages music venue. I feel like the arts, not just music-related (although it is my specialty), are very important for society- especially kids. I have plenty of experience teaching, performing and recording music. Let me teach you or your child or both. I promise you will not be let down. I am very confident in my teaching skills. I want you to not only learn the guitar or bass, but I want you to get good fast! All it takes is a positive attitude and some practice. Most importantly you should show up to the lessons expecting to have fun!

About Me

I began taking guitar lessons at the age of 11 with blues/jazz guitarist Tom Castonzo, a frequent performer, bandleader and teacher in and around the Chicago area. My studies with Tom lasted for many years and covered various musical and technical aspects of many different styles ranging from jazz to classical and everything in between. Throughout this time, I co-founded the progressive hard rock band Dream Haven, which performed with notable acts such as Mastodon, Fear Factory, Walls of Jericho, & Enuff Z'nuff. In 2003, Dream Haven released an EP entitled "Nostalgia is Five Frame." In 2002, I began performing in pit orchestras for various musicals including Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserable, The Wiz, Little Shop of Horrors, and Seussical the Musical.
