Carolyn B. is an excellent piano teacher

Carolyn B. has been teaching my 6yr old daughter for a year. Carolyn has a very engaging style of teaching that works extremely well for kids. She has a tested ability to skillfully refocus kid's attention by injecting fun into the lesson and reassuring the kid that "they can". She's extremely patient, is always pleasant is good at easing a child into stepping up their ability and confidence. From the start, I signed up my daughter for 1-hour lessons, unsure if she will focus. I'm amazed at how Carolyn keeps her engegaed through the hour. My daughter's skills and interest in piano continues to grow. I strongly recommend Carolyn B. to teach piano.

Great!

Carolyn has been teaching my 9 year old for just over 2 months and he has learnt immensely. She is very patient, friendly, soft spoken and my son loves her! He is a very shy kind and doesn't adjust to newer people so quickly but she is just phenomenal!

Elise showes off what she has learned, and purchases books that have music in them to learn. From what I see, Elise is happy under your teaching and I am happy too.
David R. Chapel Hill, NC

About David

David discovered his love for music early on at the age of seven with the musical/movie: The Sound of Music. He and his siblings would entertain their babysitter by acting out the entire musical - singing and dancing along with the soundtrack. To make it even more fun, they would sometimes speed up the vinyl record and perform in extra-fast mode! (And that was way before 'Wii - Just Dance!')

He vividly remembers his first real musical instruction back in elementary school:
“Everyone in 4th Grade was given a Recorder to learn how to play 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star'. When the music teacher had the class play together, she noticed that I wasn't looking down at my music booklet as I played, since I was 'playing by ear'. Not only was ...

You can not find a better guitar instructor!

I have had innumerable music instructors over the course of many years, including group and now individual guitar lessons with David. Without reservation, in all regards he is the best I have had. His knowledge of music and ability to teach, to all ages and levels, are extraordinary. I frequently recommend him to others with enthusiasm and without qualification. In a nutshell: You could not find a better guitar instructor.

"What can I say about Courtney? Beautiful person. Beautiful instrument. She has, hands down, one of the most amazing voices I have ever heard in my life. She knows her instrument intimately and intricately. Courtney's ear is amazing. Her ability to nail a melody, improvise it and navigate through changes is nothing less than astounding. She is truly a gifted, well versed and educated musician. Her composition and arranging speak to that as well. I was in awe as I sat and listened to her compositions at her graduate recital. Simply amazing. Great musician. Great person."

About Matt

At heart, I'm a rock-nerd.

But the beautiful thing about music and especially music theory is that you start to realize that every composer, be it Bach or The Beastie Boys, uses the same tricks.

I can teach an arpeggio on piano and play a bit of a Beethoven song and then switch right to a Muse song and hear that exact same lick. With drums, I can teach a rudiment (the building blocks of percussion) and then play a Nirvana song back to back with a concerto and hear the exact same pattern played on the snare. It's all the same, in the best way. And at the risk of sounding corny, I think it speaks to the universal spirit of music.

I've collaborated on a number of musical projects with Gabe -- mixing, writing and recording in studios. He is extremely talented and has always been a pleasure to be around. I would definitely recommend him to my own students (I teach guitar in Durham), as his patience and ability to explain complicated ideas is excellent.

My son who is 13 took lessons with Gabriel and had a great experience. We were only able to pay for 30 minute lessons due to a tight budget, but none the less Gabriel used those short times to teach my son as much as he could! Putting his musical knowledge to use while incorporating things such as the importance and benefits of stretching your arm muscles before playing was very cool and useful, and I would highly recommend lessons with him to anyone considering drum lessons!
