Diedrich W. Minneapolis, MN

About Diedrich

I hold a Music and English degree from Hamline University, but that doesn't make me a good teacher. I've played professionally for over 25 years, have taught English as a Second Language, Hockey and Audio Engineering, taught people age 5 to 75, and have taught private music lessons full time in Minneapolis for the past 9 years, but this doesn't make me a good teacher. What makes me a good teacher is that I have an infectious love of music and a passionate commitment to helping people. I do have specialties, like helping singer/songwriters develop their lyrics, arrangements, voice, and performance as well as helping artists get through creativity blocks, stage fright and preparing for studio recording. My experience as a producer, studio musician and audio engineer has ...

I’m a lifetime student and decided to take voice lessons this year. Diedrich has been an amazing teacher. He spends time getting to know the student and learning her goals to create the best plan for her. He’s a great listener and observer which allows him to quickly adapt to the students needs.

No need to look for another teacher in the Twin Cities. If you’re reading this, you've found the best and should book your first lesson now.

The BEST Guitar Teacher I've EVER had!

Diedrich,
Is a very nice, genuine person, who is honest, straightforward, and knows EXACTLY what he is doing. He is smart, wise, funny, and very charismatic. He makes taking guitar lessons a joy, rather than a chore.

I would recommend Diedrich to anyone pursuing guitar or bass lessons, whether it is for one or two lessons, or for the long term mentoring and instruction, of which he is extremely capable of providing.

Great teacher, very adaptive and receptive to individual interests

Diedrich is a great teacher and makes learning feel fun as opposed to a chore. Granted there is practice and work involved with any lessons you take, he does a great job at relating this to your specific interests which helps you stay interested in what you are learning. He provides a good mix of fun with progressing your musical knowledge and is a great communicator outside of lesson times if you have any questions. I feel you get more from him than just the lesson time, which shows great dedication to his students.
Mark F. Chanhassen, MN

About Mark

Dear Students and Parents,
I have been playing guitar for over 30 years. I played in various rock bands for fun growing up and then developed a passion for acoustic finger-style guitar playing by songwriters like James Taylor. While still in high school, I opened a concert for Livingston Taylor (James Taylor's™ brother). After high school I decided to pursue my passion for guitar in college and received my Bachelors degree in Classical Guitar Performance studying with Robert Guthrie at Southern Methodist University. I also love to write music so after graduating from SMU I went out to Los Angeles and worked in the film music industry at Warner Bros. Studios for many years. I am currently working at MakeMusic, Inc., a world leader in music technology whose mission is to develop ...

My son has been taking lessons from Jason for about 9 months, and he LOVES Jason! He is awed by the level of talent Jason has and is inspired by the way Jason teaches him. Lately, Jason has also been working with our son on garage band and composition. We're really liking this also. Professional, flexible, talented - what more could you ask for?

Melody's knowledge and drive are truly contagious. She has a unique ability to pull the absolute best out of her students by bringing all of her learned and inherent skill to the table sharing with those she is teaching. It is apparent that this is not just a job for her, but a calling. If you're looking for a teacher who is talented, compassionate, and will push you to be the best you can be, she's definitely the one!

Nick is great musician and a fun teacher to work with. He was my mandolin instructor in New York this past year. I'm a professional singer who was looking to pick up a new instrument, and Nick was a great teacher. He has a lot of creative strategies for teaching and working with different learning styles, and is great at letting the student set the tone of the lesson. He's extremely knowledgeable, and more important, his love of music and teaching shines through--his lessons are fun!

Nick is a wonderful teacher. He is patient, encouraging, fun, and knowledgeable. Nick also has a lot of tricks up his sleeve, and understands how to connect with a student's individual needs and wishes. I've made progress on my instrument that wouldn't have been possible with Nick's guidance and advice.
