Briana has studied various vocal genres under a wide variety of coaches: classical, chamber, and pop voice; musical theatre voice and jazz, soul, R&B, and gospel technique at McGill University in Montreal. Briana also spent 10 years studying the classical Suzuki method of piano under Phyllis Kranz (Dover, NH), which helped to develop her ear.

Briana is also a successful singer-songwriter. She developed the craft of songwriting while attending Phillips Exeter Academy, McGill University, and the University of New Hampshire, where Briana earned her Masters degree in English Literature. I have been active in the entertainment industry since the age of 12, when I gave my first professional performance. Prior to that I was already being introduced to music with years of guitar, and then vocal instruction. I do not remember a time of my life when I was not singing somewhere; in the house, in the yard, in the classroom. That is perhaps why I identify so well with the young people who gather so much enjoyment from "just singing" at every opportunity. I am an Oklahoma Native who loves music and loves to teach people to reach their potential. I studied Classical (operatic) voice for more than11 years, with Judith Haddon of the Metropolitan Opera, Chicago Musical Collage, Brenda Seward-Johnson, University of Central Oklahoma, and the late Marsha Henderson, University of Oklahoma. I was a student at the Oklahoma Arts Institute, 1997, 1998 Music major and Graduate of Classen School of Advanced Studies. I have been writing and singing gospel/inspirational music for about 18 years. I have performed in musicals, plays, recitals, and professional bookings from every genre of music. I currently serve as director for a youth performing arts camp where I have been a lead- instructor for the past 4 years.

Music is my life, and is something that I want to share with others! Because of that, I try my best to give positive experiences to all of my students. I have a byline that says "Music is Much More than Just Learning Notes." I believe that! Anyone can learn notes, fingerings, etc. What I try to do is add that "soul" element that each person has and cultivate that into meaningful music!

A lesson is a place to share! I listen to students as well as teach. We all have something we can learn from each other!
While I want lessons to be fun and informative, I strive for complete understanding, which means any student will gain the needed mechanics with complete knowledge of why things happen and what they do to and for music. From there, I attempt to teach the "soul" of music and how emotion and spirit play a huge part in memorable music.

I made my Broadway debut with the original cast of Disney & Cameron Mackintosh’s hit musical Mary Poppins and became Broadway's second Mary, flying over the heads and into the hearts of Broadway audiences for over 100 performances.  I left that production to join the original cast of the highly acclaimed Broadway revival of Ragtime.  

I continue to cross the country representing Walt Disney Productions in national concert appearances. I have also has appeared on The Today Show, The View, the 2007 Tony Awards Show, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I have sung for the annual Broadway on Broadway Concert in Times Square, Broadway Sings for Toys and the Fred Ebb Awards.   Recently, I was seen at The Maltz Jupiter Theatre as Hope in Anything Goes, and in the title role of the musical, Gypsy, in the premiere production of the new North Shore Music Theatre, as Mary Poppins in the  televised 2010 IKEA Thanksgiving Day Parade and the 2011 Walt Disney World Christmas...

After 10 years of teaching and performing in New York City, I moved to Los Angeles to be near family.
I can't wait to share the knowledge I've learned (from Juilliard and MSM faculty, Broadway musical directors and coaches) with my students.

My career is varied and special:
*I taught theater to elementary kids in Harlem
*I taught Voice and Piano at a performing arts school in Connecticut and with Little Maestros (NYC's premiere infant and toddler music classes)
*I performed regionally and internationally with major opera companies and regional theaters.

I studied Music Education at SDSU, Musical Theater at NYU and received a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice from Manhattan School of Music. I teach beginning to intermediate piano with students starting as young as 5.

I'm a professional guitarist with a background in jazz, heavy metal, blues, classical, and bossa nova. In 2006 I graduated from the Berklee College of Music and since then I have become lead guitarist and keyboardist for an Atlanta based rock band. In May of 2009, after a year of being together, the band released its debut album, In Prison Till the End, to great critical acclaim.

For the past four years I have been the Vocal Director for all the major musical productions for Arts and Learning Conservatory at Vanguard University.
