I have been playing guitar for almost ten years and performing for about five. After graduating from the University of California, Santa Cruz I attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. While developing my skills in the classroom I played gigs and sessions around the Boston area, which further added to my education. I currently reside in the San Francisco Bay Area and I'm looking forward to teaching students who have a strong desire to develop their skills.

I started playing guitar at age 9, and recorded 2 singles in the LA area by age 14. I was a music major throughout High School and College. I also learned a lot by educating myself at the Brand Library in the Los Angeles Area, which specializes in the arts. I specialized in advanced music theory and and improvisational techniques.

I have played on tour with several professional bands, playing rock, pop, blues & country. I now perform live in various bands and record original music as often as possible.

I believe sincerely that part of the responsibility of being a professional musician is passing on the knowledge that you have acquired to the next generation of performers, and it also happens to be something I enjoy! Luckily so did my teachers, and I have always felt deeply indebted to them for teaching me. I have 15 years experience teaching and playing drums and latin percussion (congas, timbales, bongo) in the San Francisco Bay Area, and in my career as a performer I have played with everyone from Slash (rock), Donna Summer (RnB), to Jesus Diaz (salsa). I have studied classical and jazz percussion at the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music and the esteemed Manhattan School of Music, as well as an extensive tutorial en Cuba, where I studied latin percussion at the national school of art. I was originally a classical pianist, but in 1997 I began study of jazz arranging and piano. Following this, I spent 8 years as a touring musician in various bands, traveling mostly around the eastern half of the country. With the dream of writing orchestral music, I then returned to school at Jacobs School of Music (Indiana University) to study classical music composition. I got the opportunity to write for large ensembles there, and then became so interested in experimental music that I decided to come to Mills College, where I am currently teaching as a T.A. and continuing composition study.

I have been playing the guitar for 30 years, and to date have recorded and produced 8 cds of my original instrumental music. I have performed in numerous bands over the years, currently I lead a jazz/rock instrumental trio, and play in a Spanish pop/rock/folk band. I also have over 20 years of experience recording and producing music, and am passionate about recording and audio technology.

Having been a performing musician from the age of 10, I have experience in several instruments and almost every genre of music. With a bachelor's degree in flute performance, and most of a master's in the same (to be completed in the next year), my primary focus has been on classical music in flute, with an emphasis in orchestral playing and contemporary music.

I began focusing on singing a few years after flute, to accompany my guitar playing, and began writing songs in the pop/folk genre. I have been singing both solo and with choirs for the last 10 years. The human voice and the flute are remarkably similar in the way the body is used to produce sound, and I use very similar techniques when focusing on breath control and support for both.

I picked up my first guitar about 10 years ago and have been studying and playing ever since. Having a strong interest in composing and writing original music I gigged regularly (3-4 shows a month) performing original material in a rock band in the East Bay until I moved to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music. At Berklee I received rigorous training in traditional and Jazz music theory, Music technology, and guitar performance. I was born in New York, then moved back to Istanbul, Turkey where I was raised. I have started to sing in 1983 with various choirs, in Istanbul, Turkey. I have performed with the prestigious TRT (Turkish Radio Television) Istanbul Youth Polyphonic Choir for 4 years.
