I am currently enrolled as a Music Education student at Temple University. I am due to graduate in Spring of 2013. I have taken percussion lessons from age 8 to present (I am 22). This includes studying classical percussion (marimba, xylophone, snare drum, timpani, cymbals, bass drum, tambourine, and triangle) with Phil O'Banion, Michael Hinton, and Sue Jones, drum set from Sebastian Guerrero, Sean Dixon and Sue Jones, and jazz vibraphone from Tony Miceli. I have a basic knowledge of Brazilian rhythms and Afro-Caribbean clave based rhythms used in salsa music, and how they apply to congas, timbales, bongos and guiro. I took classical piano lessons from age 7 to age 13 from Lois Didomenico and Barbara Rottenberg and still take occasional lessons to refine my skills, though most of my playing is in pop, jazz, and modern church settings rather than classical.

I studied Composition at The University of the Arts and spend a large amount of my time as a professional songwriter and performer. My education and experience has taught me that the most important thing about learning music is to learn it in an interactive way; how to hear it and speak it. I try to focus my students on this idea and use their musical interests to motivate them. As a composer and songwriter I'm constantly involved with the creative process and am always encouraging my students to write their own music and to express themselves.

I began playing guitar in 2002, and mostly focused on rock and blues playing early on. I took lessons at a nearby music store for about 3 years as a beginner. While still studying at this store, one of my teachers offered me a job teaching lessons; however, I was too young at the time to do so. This experience began to make me think seriously about making music my career. I decided to focus on jazz and classical music while in high school, and have pursued these styles more exclusively ever since. I began studying with guitarist Carol Hamersma when my interests shifted toward jazz. Carol refined my basic jazz skills, but also exposed me to classical guitar technique and repertoire very early on. I am a classically trained pianist, with over 10 years of experience. I perform jazz, classical, pop, folk, and other genres. In addition, I play keyboard in a local rock band. I teach a wide range of piano techniques, including sight reading, finger exercises, classical, and jazz improvisation. I also have a solid repertoire of rhythm training, aural theory, diatonic and chromatic harmony, and music history.

I got my start in music early, banging away at the piano in my grandparents’ house as a child. Later, I began playing the viola in 3rd grade, and moved to the saxophone in 4th grade, playing that for the next seven years.

In high school, I picked up the bass guitar, and fell in love. Encouraged by my band director, orchestra director, and choral director, I expanded his repertoire into the double bass, bass clarinet, contra-bass clarinet, and even tuba for a year. I also sang tenor with the school’s chorus and madrigal choir. I graduated with honors and was the very first recipient of the Robert Woldin Music Award.

She was excited to return to the Caramoor Festival this summer where she will opened the season as the Soprano Soloist in Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream under the baton of Riccardo Abbado and cover the role of Giulietta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi. She returned to the Maryland Choral Arts Society as soloist for their 2012 performance of Vaughan-Williams’ “Dona Nobis Pacem” after singing the Brahms Requiem with them in 2010.

In the spring of 2011 she reprised her role as Die Königin in Die Zauberflöte with Ohio University as a visiting artist. I am a soprano and teacher from the Philadelphia area. I appeared most recently at Tri-Cities Opera in Binghamton, NY, Other notable opera performances include Center City Opera Theater and Temple University, where I graduated with a degree in vocal performance. I graduated with my Master's degree in Opera from Binghamton University, where she also taught voice and musicianship lessons. I also have a life-long love of musical theater, rock and pop music and enjoy teaching and performing music of all genres.

With a voice that has been described as “exquisite,” “sublime,” and “pure beauty,” soprano Veronica has performed with opera companies and orchestras across the country while keeping firm roots in her hometown of Philadelphia. She has performed with small choruses and full orchestras, in intimate outdoor venues and major opera houses. She is an Artist in Residence at Temple University and has sung as a core member of many local choral ensembles, but frequently travels outside of the area to perform.

I have been teaching music for 16 years. I grew up on the 2nd floor of my father's music store in Central PA and have been around music my whole life. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the University of the Arts where I studied jazz guitar with Pat Martino, Jimmy Bruno, Steve Giordano, and Tom Giacabetti. I was one of the original teachers during the formative years at the Paul Green School of Rock Music where I later went on to be the Music Director of the Philadelphia and Downingtown Schools. During that time, I helped many students prepare and get accepted to music schools, ran and developed music summer camps, and organized concerts where the students performed the music of Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, and many more of rock's finest band at every major venue in Philadelphia.

Andrew is a Philadelphia area bassist, guitarist, composer, sound designer, audio engineer, and teacher. As a recent graduate of University of the Arts with a MM in jazz studies, Andrew has had many opportunities to study with some of the best musicians that Philadelphia has to offer. Andrew performs in a variety of styles from rock to jazz and R&B. For Andrew, music is the most fun a person can have and this idea is the foundation for his instruction. Andrew aims to inspire his students, in the way that his great teachers have inspired him.
