About Melissa

Melissa has been singing all of her life. She began her vocal training at a very cute age, learning every song she heard, and passionately performing them for friends and family. She later went on to pursue a formal education in Classical Vocal Performance and Jazz technique from California State University, Los Angeles. While completing her Bachelors degree, Melissa was fortunate to have worked with many established artists, bands and producers of various styles, including jazz, blues, rock, pop, soul and funk. Melissa J is patient, warm, and intelligent

I can easily recommend Melissa J. She is bright, warm, patient and enthusiastic about teaching music. Our son instantly connected with her, and he has remembered every single thing she has taught him. If he had his way, he would take a lesson with her everyday! Big thanks !

AMAZING teacher!

Jill is in a class of her own where it comes to teaching piano! She is incredible with kids, has tons of patience, is gentle yet firm enough to redirect an active 8 year olds attention. I was worried that my sons interest in restarting piano lessons would dwindle, as it had with his previous teacher, but Jill is a breath of fresh air, she is energetic, enthusiastic and knows just how to keep him motivated! Her love, respect and knowledge of music are evident. She makes each lesson fun and enjoyable. My son loves practicing and looks forward to his lessons... that speaks volumes. Simply put she's an awesome teacher whom I highly recommend.

Good instructor, goes at your pace/ability level

I've only been taking lessons with Rob for 3 weeks, but so far so good. After an 18 year hiatus from playing the flute, I decided it was time to go back to it. He's customized the lessons to go as fast as I am able to pick it up, as it is coming back to me quickly. I appreciate not getting stuck in a "set" order of lessons. He's knowledgeable, professional, a genuinely nice person and he is a very good, easy to understand instructor.

INSPIRED LEARNINGS!

We laugh a lot when I goof up and he kindly leads me to where it will be better. We have had only 3 lessons so far and I have practiced every day, sometimes more than once per day and he says he can tell. Rob is a very experienced teacher and musician.

Music Theory and Ear-Training are specialties of mine. This is the best subject to learn if you're interested in making music without knowing songs/pieces, as well as understanding why music sounds and works like it does.

About Christopher

Hi! My name is Christopher, or Chris for short. I am a composer, arranger, pianist, vocalist, and private tutor. I have taught private lessons in classical and contemporary piano performance, vocal performance, guitar performance, music theory, and musicianship to local students for the past 3 years. I currently attend CSUN'€™s school of music where I am a year away from obtaining my Bachelor'€™s of Music in Composition. My other experience includes teaching Confirmation classes to teenagers at St. Jude'€™s church for 2 years, and teaching English to Japanese high school students through the Rotary Youth Exchange Program.

My Favorite Piano Teacher!

Chris is an unbelievable piano teacher! He always makes sure we are working on something that I enjoy which keeps me motivated. He is very patient (which is great since I'm kind of a slow learner!) and is always willing to go over things as many times as I need.

Chris also has such a great passion for his music so a lot of the times my absolute favorite part of our lesson is when we are finished and I ask him to play me some of his own newly composed songs!
Steven S. Ventura, CA

You'll learn to apply music theory to compositions played on your instrument, improvisational strategies, songwriting and more. Many of my students have learned to love music theory!

While at C.S.U.N., Steven was the winner of the Andres Segovia memorial scholarship and the Randy Rhoads memorial scholarship. Also, Steven has studied with many guitar greats such as Christopher Parkening and Randy Rhoads (Ozzy Osbourne). Currently, Steven is recording and performing with the virtuoso violinist Hekar Rivera and is the guitarist in a super cool instrumental Rock/Jazz/R&B fusion quartet.
