About Me
I started playing piano when I was 8. I started writing compositions around 9. Since I was singing in the choir, I began to fuse piano and singing, until I wrote my first song with words when I was twelve. Along the way I learned guitar, bass, drums, and various forms of composition and recording techniques. I toured with my band The Navigators for several years and I have had compositions of mine in TV shows like "The Unit" and in the documentary "Dreamriders" as well as various independent films. Along the way I have taught every age group from six months of age up to adult.

I requested Mondays because I work 4-10 hour days, with Monday off. The first lesson was a Monday night. The teacher had a prior commitment on Monday evening, so the lesson was moved 1/2 hr later than originally scheduled. Lessons are provided in the instructor's home. I had to take my 3 yr old grandson along the first night and waited with him in tow, in the family room area where instructor's toddler daughter sat watching TV. Wife arrived near the end of the class and was obviously disturbed by our presence. I was soon asked to reschedule to Wednesday night at 7pm and agreed to accommodate, though this was very difficult for me since I work downtown until 5:30. That evening I walked granddaughter to the door. Instructor was friendly, but wife gave very aloof stare. I sat in my car and did so each night thereafter. Instructor communicated by email about class schedules but never responded to my inquiries about practice suggestions, or any detail of the class time.

Andrew has been very patient and encouraging with my daughter. She is loving the lessons, and is beginning to become more confidant. Andrew is very talented, with a passion for music. I am very satisfied with our choice in selecting Andrew as our teacher.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ChrisM Andrew is a terrific teacher that I highly recommend. Without his help I wouldn't be anywhere near where I'm at in my piano playing. He's patient and extremely helpful in getting me where I need to be in my playing. Do yourself a favor and skip any piano lesson videos and just go to a teacher.

She feels she has already learned so much in only 3 lessons so far! She is excited about her potential growth over time and looking forward to her next lesson with Andrew!

Andrew K. is musically gifted, and he has a real talent for using that gift to teach others. He has the ability to customize his lessons for students at all levels. He explains things very well, and I feel that I am getting a lot out of each lesson. I'm so glad I found a vocal coach who really knows what they're doing!
