My passion for teaching is as strong as my desire for personal musical growth. I have been teaching students of all ages in both individual and group settings for over five years. I believe that a one-on-one teacher to student relationship is the best way for the student to grow not only in the subject being taught, but emotionally as well. It is my goal for every one of my students to learn some life lesson or become acquainted with a non-musical philosophy through the study of music. From my personal life-long study of music I have learned about the importance of listening, dedication, compassion, respect, and of teaching oneself, and if I am able to pass on just a fraction of this experiential knowledge, then the student has found success. *** Lesson Details *** I have a ...
I've been teaching fiddle for about 20 years. Learn delightful fiddle tunes by note and/or by ear. Learn how to back up and improvisational techniques. Fun!
Hi, my name is Sue L. I perform professionally with Cascade Chamber Orchestra (classical) and Mango Nights (World Music and Jazz). I've been teaching all strings and piano for about 20 years. In the first few lessons students learn how to get get big, beautiful tone by learning various bowing techniques that are easy to learn with a little daily practice. Then I teach how to read music and play songs in a variety of styles: Gypsy, classical, bluegrass, contemporary classical, rock and more. The album I use for this is a beginning book called VIP Strings composed by my mentor Dr. Lyons. The book comes with a play along piano accompaniment CD that makes practicing fun! Along with this I teach music fundamentals like scales, music theory and ear training. For more serious ...
I use many tune books from many traditions to teach fiddle. We learn equally by ear and by notation. Sligo, Scottish, Metis, Appalachian, Louisiana and Texas bowing are all different, and I will show you how. Jigs, reels and hornpipes lead into rags and blues. Learning the fiddle should be like learning to sing. In a way, the beginner already knows how, as if from a dream. It's too much fun, and it's not fair that so few get to feel what it's like to make a wooden box sing!
Hi, I'm Tom V. After an award winning high school jazz band career I went on to earn an MFA in painting from Ohio University. I couldn't stay away from music, and I continued to study traditional, jazz and classical violin and guitar with many fine private teachers. I have been a licensed preschool teacher since 2002. I have also been teaching music classes/lessons, on and off, since 1997. Many of my students have been successes in orchestras, bands and contests. I have also won numerous awards in major fiddle contests. I do love to see students enjoy learning as much as I have. I currently play jazz violin and accordion with Pink Martini co-founder Lyndee Mah and her band.

"My daughter's wedding was weeks away and I had never been able to dance a step. With Jenny's help, I came further than ever before in such short time in any subject."
