I teach all popular music styles including Blues, Rock, Jazz, Country, Bluegrass, Latin American Styles. I can teach you to read by notes and/or by chords based on your preferences and styles you choose to pursue. I like to give a solid foundation to all beginners learning to read music and basic music theory and as they progress I will concentrate more on elements that are more important for the style you prefer. I am flexible in my approach as I know the most important ingredient for a student's success in music is for the student to be motivated to play more by enjoying the lesson and the practice time. I'll work with you to make it learning fun!
I have been a professional musician and teacher all my adult life. Music is my passion and has always been how I make a living. I teach piano/keyboards, guitar, voice, bass and ukulele. I studied classical piano at SUNY at Buffalo and I initially learned to play guitar and singing on my own. Years later I studied voice and guitar with great professional instructors. I am familiar with different ways of learning music: from very structured and traditional methods (that we use in classical music) to more improvisational and "by ear" approaches as we often do in popular music. This helps me tailor my music teaching specifically to each student based on his/her musical preferences, abilities and learning style. I can teach all styles of music including: Pop, Rock, Blues, Country, Bluegrass, ...
My name is Scott and I am a musician. I specialize in many styles of guitar playing such as: acoustic, blue grass, reggae, blues, finger style, jam, rock, and instrumental.
My goal is to help students better understand their instrument and how to play it.
I teach techniques and music theory to help them better understand the language of music.
Your instrument can be your voice. My job is to teach students to build their musical vocabulary and skills so they can better express themselves musically.
We learn by teaching. That is why I love to teach, because I love to learn. I have made many great connections while teaching music to people and one of the ways to do that is to work together on a common goal. I started teaching music because during my own studies I have discovered many quick learning strategies that make playing music fun. I teach from my home studio as well as via Skype. Many of my strategies I've discovered on my own. Now I want to share these ideas with you. Scott is a multi-instrumentalist loop master whose music spans a wide range of sounds and genres. With an education in music performance and a reputation for having a good time this laid back musician is no amateur to the music scene. Scott has performed hundreds of shows and numerous festival ...
I have been playing lead guitar since 2004 (bass guitar and drums since 2006) and have invested my life into the creative process. Over the said amount of time, I have been applying my technique to genres such as heavy metal, jazz, blues, funk, classical, and anything in between. I have written over 30 original works which include guitar, bass, drum, and vocal scores. Once the work is completed, I would proceed to creatively construct in a one-on-one or group scenario. I have also been student teacher and guitarist for the Standley Lake High School jazz band. The jazz band at Standley Lake regularly played clinics in which professional jazz musician's would critique the group on a particular set. This would include breaking it down to the single musician's parts and pin pointing strengths
You, the student, are always the most important part of the lesson. Whatever you wish to get out of playing is what I want to help you achieve. The lessons I teach are always about what your goals and interests are. Here is a quick overview of what will/can be covered:
Basics such as how to hold your guitar and a pick, or how to play finger style if that's what you're interested in. How to properly fret a note, how to do hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, finger-tapping, and sweep picking.
Scales, chords, the names of strings, the names of your notes, how and why certain scales and chords go together, rhythm, strumming, chord theory, etc. Any time you wish to learn a song you enjoy we will cover that as well.
The most important thing to me in giving you lessons is that you are enjoying the time learning the instrument.
You, the student, are always the priority in my lessons. Every student receives material specifically designed to fit their interests, needs, skill level, and pace. We are all different, and learn in different ways. You deserve a lesson plan that is built just for you. John T.studied with a private guitar instructor, and bass instructor. Two times he broke the Guinness Record for Fastest Guitar Player. John T.'s school, Dr. Hot Licks' School of Rock and Metal has been awarded the title of "Best in Instrumental Music Instruction" two years in a row by the Westminster Award Program. Volkswagen hired T. to take part in an internet ad campaign called "Fast Vs. Fast." Currently, John T.plays in three bands here in Denver. Rock and metal are what John grew up on. This music is his ...

Much of what is thought of as difficult to play or ...
