Hello all. I have been teaching for about 9 years now. I have degrees from two universities, one for jazz performance and one for classical performance. I have played in multiple bands throughout my life ranging in styles from punk rock all the way to straight ahead jazz. I currently hold a job in music retail and now consider myself an expert on a wide variety of instruments too. If you choose me for lessons, we will work on developing your musical vocabulary, learning to read music, hand exercises, chordal structures, scales, tablature and so much more. I have a love for music like none other and a passion to share that with my students.

To be able to teach is my dream. Whether it is music related or not, teaching is my passion! In 2011 I graduated with my Bachelors in Music Education at the University of Bridgeport. I have just completed my Master levels courses in May 2012, and will be a certified CT music teacher by the end of the Fall 2012.

While at the University of Bridgeport, I majored in Jazz guitar. To play guitar is my passion, and every time I play my mood is uplifted. I want to share my passion for guitar and music overall with any student who would like to learn.

Hi! My name is Barry and I have been teaching for over 10 years in the Fairfield County, CT area. I have had success teaching all ages, styles and abilities, from the most gifted to the physically impaired. I grew up listening to a tremendously wide range of music, and have studied classical flute, rock, jazz and classical guitar, and even the japanese shakuhachi, with some of the great minds of the instruments. I graduated high honors from Queens College with a Masters' in composition, and have had works performed by major acts in the contemporary classical scene. In jazz, I have shared the stage and recording studio with the likes of Marc Ribot and William Parker; I have quite a bit of experience as a performer that I bring to my teaching. STUDYING WITH ME:

Learning guitar should be interesting and fun! I approach each student as an individual and structure their lessons according to what I determine they need, as well as what they are interested in musically. I concentrate on many different areas; ear training, theory, playing technique, improvisation, various styles of music, and, the physics of the guitar. Understanding how the instrument works is important in my opinion. My long term goal is to teach a student how they can teach themselves down the line. Understanding why you’re playing something is just important as knowing how to play it. I aim to give a student rich and well rounded one-on-one time!

I began playing the drum set at age 8, and started playing guitar and piano at the age of 12. I played percussion throughout my public school years and studied Jazz drums with Ed Balsamo during that time. As a Junior in high school I was a member of the SCMEA All-County Jazz Band, The Nassau Suffolk Performing Arts Jazz Band and its Jazz Ensemble. My senior year of High School I was selected to play with the NY All-State Jazz Band, and later that year I was chosen to be in the All-Eastern Jazz ensemble.
I attended SUNY Purchase for Jazz Performance and had the privilege of studying with John Riley, Richie Morales, Kenny Washington, Jon Faddis, and Todd Coolman.
While At school, I gained a stronger understanding for the theory and technique behind piano/guitar playing. I am available for Piano lessons at the beginner level and guitar lessons at the beginner/intermediate level.

Jason received his Bachelor of Music from UMKC Music Conservatory and went on to receive his Masters Degree in Music Performance at the Rudi E Scheidt School of Music where he studied with Lily Afshar. Jason has won several competitions including the "Brownsville Guitar Ensemble Competition" and has performed at various festivals including the Piccolo Spoleto festival in Charleston, South Carolina. He currently received an Artist Diploma from SUNY Purchase with Frederic Hand. Jason is passionate about teaching guitar to all ages. He has received Suzuki guitar training at the Frank Longay Conservatory of Guitar and is qualified to teach the method to children as young as three years old and older.
Jason is equally as proficient in Rock/Metal as he is in Classical and World music styles. He has studied rock music at various institutes such as the "National Guitar Workshop" in New Milford Connecticut.

For over 20 years, Barry has been active working as a producer, engineer, composer, arranger and musician, now working primarily in his home recording studio, Barry Hartglass Digital. Barry received a bachelor of music degree in Music Engineering Technology from the University of Miami, studied composition at the Juilliard School and also music for film at NYU. Barry plays 5 string electric bass, 5 string fretless bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, piano, synthesizers, soprano saxophone and various hand percussion. Barry draws on his diverse background performing and recording on multiple instruments in numerous styles to provide a stimulating and creative experience for the student.

I've been teaching full time in NYC public schools for over 8 years now. I've also been teaching privately for over 14 years! I personalize my lessons for every student, depending on their interests and ability levels. I offer a truly custom music education, and am able to cater to your learning style as well. Having a Bachelors in Music Education from Manhattanville College and Masters of Arts in Teaching from Lehman College, you can be assured that you are working with a qualified teacher!

I have been teaching in the Bristol/Southington area for over 12 years and have been playing the guitar for over 23 years. I majored in classical guitar at the Hartt School of Music where I received my Bachelors degree. I teach most styles of music including rock, blues, metal, and classical. Some of my favorite artist are Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Randy Rhoads. I'm currently playing in the Doors tribute band Riders On The Storm and have played throughout the Northeast as well as in Europe. I also play classical guitar at weddings and professional events.

I am an extremely experienced Cellist and Guitarist with nearly ten years of performing and teaching experience. I have been playing guitar since the age of five and cello since the age of eight, and have performed all over New York, Ohio, and North Carolina, as well as Italy. I have a B.A. in Cello Performance from the University at Buffalo, and an M.A. in Music Performance from the Copland School of Music at Queens College.

I have appeared with classical orchestras and chamber groups all over the Buffalo, Western New York, and NYC area, as well performed with rock, blues, folk, and alternative groups playing both guitar and cello. I have recorded numerous albums and toured with various rock groups.

Matt's love for guitar and music began like many guitarists, when he first heard the sound of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and many other classic rock guitarists. He immediately picked up the guitar and began learning as many songs by these icons as possible. Eventually he heard the likes of jazz guitar greats Joe Pass and Wes Montgomery and his love of music changed forever. Since then, Matt has combined his love of jazz and classic rock into a passion for all music throughout his career as a performer and educator.

As a teacher, Matt began as a tutor of guitar, jazz improvisation, music theory, and ear-training at Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona. My love affair with music began in his childhood home in Israel, surrounded by European classical music and opera. When the 1960’s pop revolution started to filter onto Israeli radio from England, Sarel became captivated with the simplicity and lyricism of the Beatles. In 1989 Sarel began his jazz education at Berklee College of Music, where he began an intensive collaboration with Jerry Bergonzi, who encouraged and honed Sarel’s improvisational skills. I began to step out professionally while still a student, soloing in concerts with The Boston Afro-American Artist Association Festival and at the Lawrence and Alma Berk Recital Hall. Sarel moved to Budapest in 1994, and found an emerging Eastern European city. In 1995, I began to teach, play sessions and write.
