Coire G. Boulder, CO

Subjects Taught

Arrangement and Composition, Bass Guitar, Composition, Music Performance, Music Theory, Ukulele, Upright Bass

About Me

Hi! I'm currently a Music Education Student at CU Boulder specializing in strings. I play bass and gig often in many different ensembles from Jazz combos to rock and experimental electronic groups. I live for music, and I've been teaching since I was a sophomore in high school. I have a deep love for transferring my own passion for music to other people to help enrich their lives, and believe strongly that having music in your life in any way is not only fun but can make life full and grand. I look forward to helping you on your path, no matter how serious or casual you are about it!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide some music materials, tuners, metronomes, amps, cables, and in some instances instruments (e.g. a student practices bass at school and they don't have the income to have one for themselves). However, I generally expect students to have an instrument (or access to one at school) they are taking lessons on, because if they don't they can't practice, and each instrument requires a little familiarity to be able to play well.

*** Specialties ***
Instrumentally I specialize in Jazz, Funk, Rock, Metal, and Classical styles. It is important to understand the components of as many styles as you can so you can broaden your horizons and open up different worlds of music and influence. Being able to play several different ways will bring students, and people, more in touch with who they are and what they like as humans and musicians. It also opens up more performance opportunities!

I have a strong background in Music Theory, and can teach everything from Classical to Jazz Harmony, Counterpoint, and atonal/20th Century styles. I have written several pieces both for popular/Jazz groups and Classical ensembles, and can help with the nuances of arranging pieces, voice leading, orchestration and reading musical notation.

Guitar, Music Performance, Music Recording, Music Theory, Songwriting, Ukulele

About Me

The music heard around my house in my youth had a country twang until Elvis came along and the music rocked and rolled! In the late 60's I heard "Born To Be Wild" by Steppenwolf and I was sold!
While living in Atlanta Georgia during the 80"s I toured with The Original Drifters (Under the Boardwalk/Up On the Roof) and a Supremes cover band called Mocha. They were booked by the William Morris Agency who would actually fly us to gigs around the country! Fun! One weekend would see us in Florida the next in Arizona.
To learn more about music I moved to California and became a student at Musicians Institute of Hollywood. Being exposed to one of the coolest musical environments 24/7 was a dream come true. For my hard work I received a Student of the Year award and was eventually hired to work for the school and became a substitute teacher for the entire guitar staff which included Scott Henderson, Allen Hinds and Norman Brown.
We were encouraged to gig so I toured from California to Nashville with a variety of bands and visited the Caribbean Islands aboard an actual love boat playing jazz and birthday songs! The rock band Exile took me to the Scandinavian countries with a side trip to Switzerland. My dream of letting the music take me places was working out!
Moving to Boulder in 1996 gave me the opportunity to start my own teaching business while also meeting future songwriting partners.
Dennis Wanebo and I produced our 3rd Martian Acres cd “III” at my garage studio, Oilpan Studios during 2013 as well as his “Running on Gravity” CD. Songwriter Lisa Bell and I toured Italy for 3 weeks in 2010 that inspired a co-produced “The Italian Project” CD in 2013.
My songwriting passion is currently being nurtured by working with the Lincoln Avenue Songwriting Society a group of 7 local songwriters who also perform locally and lend support to the art of writing.
I live in Boulder Colorado with my son Max and my wife Kelly. I love to perform, teach, write, record music.

David D. Boulder, CO

Subjects Taught

Audition Prep, Broadway Singing, Classical Voice, Jazz Voice, Musical Theater, Music Performance, Singing

About Me

I am a voice trainer and therapist with professional experience as a singer and actor and have taught professional singers and actors singing voice in New York City and Washington, D.C. from 1985 onward. This approach to singing voice comes from the physiological principles of Bel Canto School of Singing Voice in Italy. My teacher, Margaret Laughlin Riddleberger, who I trained with from 1979 to 2002, was the inheritor of this body centered approach and which she and I developed further in workshops and body training and exercise for singers.

You really cannot be taught to sing! Singing is a natural aspect of the human expression system and is the same essential physiological process as speaking. In this approach, we discover that most of us are doing something unnatural when we begin to sing and this prevents true emotion and authentic communication from being transmitted to our audience.

I work with professionals and those who are serious students who have clear goals of singing in front of audiences. Everyone who works with me must be working on a one-person show and perform it for a live audience.
