About Me

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are custom-oriented to your goals. You will learn confidence in your abilities to perform well and have fun. I will train your mental toolkit, while steering you toward the digital and real-world tools you need to achieve musical success.

Working towards clearly defined goals in a low-pressure, focused environment, my students reach their maximum potential quickly and with confidence. With my expertise and your dedication, we'll have fun and you'll come away from each lesson with something new to work on.

You already enjoy listening to music, now it's time to enjoy making it!

***About Me***
I've appeared on recordings with dozens of rock, pop, jazz, and classical groups, and perform on a variety of instruments and styles throughout the Boston area.

I listen to and play all kinds of music from Beethoven to Stravinsky, Arcade Fire to Beyonce, James Brown to Snoop Dogg/Lion. I have had the pleasure to share the stage with rockers Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots), and Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), and jazz greats Maynard Ferguson, Jimmie Lunceford, Conrad Herwig, "Blue" Lou Marini, and Jeff Coffin (Flecktones).

I've played acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar, trumpet, trombone, tuba, French horn, violin, cello, and string bass drums. Some of my favorite recent projects have been:
-Quilty (Pavement-style hard rock band)
-The Nevermind Orchestra (brass band that covers Nirvana tunes)
-Chill Sons (my own band for which I write songs, play guitar, and sing)
-Manhattan Symphonie (an entertaining symphony orchestra featuring soloists on piano, violin, saw, urdu, and tap shoes)

It is a treat to share music with others, and my lessons are fun, challenging, and engaging.

Thanks for stopping by to look at my profile! Let's hang out and do music things.

Stephanie A. M. Boston, MA

About Me

Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Miss M. began playing clarinet at the age of 10 and two years later, switched to alto saxophone. In 2004, Miss M. began volunteering as a saxophone instructor at Hornedo Middle School's Summer Band program. By 2006, she was the woodwind instructor for the summer program, working along side her mentor, Jorge Avenda├▒o. In her three summers of volunteering, Miss M. taught over 200 beginner flute, clarinet and saxophone students.

This experience prepared Stephanie with the tools she needed to create her own personal studio. In 2006, Miss M. began teaching beginner and intermediate saxophone and clarinet students. Since then, Miss M.'s students range in age from 8 - 50 with private instruction on flute, clarinet, saxophone and include both classical and jazz studies.

During her time at New Mexico State University, Miss M. was principle saxophonist in the top wind ensemble, as well as lead tenor in the top jazz ensemble. She was a founding member and tenor saxophonist of The Diffusion Saxophone Quartet. The quartet focused on challenging classical and jazz repertoire and performed regularly at local venues as well as yearly festivals such as the Mesilla Valley Jazz Festival.

Currently, Miss M. is in pursuit of her Master's Degree in Saxophone performance at The New England Conservatory and is a student of Mr. Kenneth Radnofsky. She performs with NEC's Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, Philharmonia orchestra, and saxophone quartet. She is the recipient of NEC's 2013-2014 Teaching Fellowship and serves as a music instructor at the Margarita Mu˝iz Academy in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts.

Miss M. is very passionate about music and is dedicated to not only creating "players" but musicians and whole people. She believes that music serves as a powerful tool, and when used properly - can help students learn discipline, determination and self-expression.
