Each week, TakeLessons students and teachers send us their shout outs. We’re thankful to be a part of this positive and thriving community, so we’d like to share these messages with you. Here’s this week’s shout out!
Jeff S., who teaches guitar and songwriting in Perth Amboy, NJ, wrote to tell us about his student, Peter H., who will be performing in San Francisco on June 3rd as part of a 25th Anniversary Tiananmen Square Memorial. Peter will be debuting his original song, “Let Me See Again”, as part of an all day outdoor gathering commemorating this tragic event in Chinese (and world) history. Peter, originally from China, has only been taking guitar and songwriting lessons from Jeff for a few months, but has already learned enough to enable him to write his Tiananmen Square song (and two others) and record them on his Mac using Garageband. Peter says, “With Jeff’s teaching and nurturing, I’m so amazed that my ideas started turning into sound. I’ve been dreaming about songwriting for years and Jeff helped make it a reality for me.” Jeff says, “I’m just thrilled that Peter has been asked to perform at a memorial that has such great personal and historic meaning for him, and I’m very proud of what he’s accomplished so quickly.”
Belushey P., featured last week on our blog, sent in a shout out to her teacher Arlys! She wrote, “This is a shout out for the best and the most enthusiastic voice teacher Arlys A. from Belushey. Thanks Miss Arlys, you are the best!”
Tramane M. in Houston, TX wrote, “Today, my voice student, Kennadi, received another superior rating in her school’s UIL contest at Mustang Middle School in Lamar Consolidated ISD. It makes me so proud when I get this kind of news from my students.” Well done, Kennadi!
