If I could earn a living doing what I love most, I would be a Clinical Psychologist. I am very passionate about helping others and feel that our society must remove the association between help and weakness. We all stumble and fall during our lives and I feel that our society labels someone as weak if they reach out for help. It is quite ironic how many times people will be the first person to offer help, but be the last person to ask for it. I feel that working as a Clinical Psychologist that I will be able to assure those who seek help that they are not weak, but strong individuals. As one who has overcome trials and tribulations, I know firsthand what a difference a kind word or a boost of encouragement from someone can make on how a person views a trying situation. By using what I have learned from my own experiences and the words of wisdom that I have received regarding overcoming obstacles, I believe I can change our societies view on those who are deemed weak or less fortunate by not only creating a place for people to come where they do not feel judged, but also reminding the rest of society that though we may come from different situations, one thing we have in common with each other is that we all have faced difficult times. Instead of labeling each other, wouldn’t helping one another be more effective?
