It’s clear that our world is messed up. If you think otherwise, you’re lying to yourself. Our world lacks understanding, compassion, and most importantly: love. The problem is, these things can’t be taught or gained by presenting facts or by having intelligent conversations because they’re not issues of the mind, they’re issues of the heart. Changing people’s hearts is how I will change the world. But how?
We feel a certain excitement when sitting down in a theater and seeing the opening title of a movie. Something about us is eager to buy into whatever we are about to see. We may attribute it to the good actors or cool special effects, but it’s the story that makes a movie great and rememberable. Movies take us on adventures and through experiences that let us learn. They can evoke new ideas, broaden our understanding and have an emotional impact. If our world’s issues are issues of the heart, then stories can be used to reach the heart. But, they must be told creatively, delicately and intelligently in order to work.
My goal is to put every effort into making these films that “work.” I will complete my degree in Cinema Art & Science to gain the necessary tools, knowledge and experience to make meaningful films. It will also open doors for me to reach larger audiences and affect more people with these ideas that I’m passionate about. Even if few are affected, even the simplest actions toward others can make it spread.
