Advocacy is in my bones. The need to help others have a voice when the world is closing in on them permeates my days, months, and years. I love it! People everywhere need to be heard. Women, men, the young, the old, the marginalized, the wronged or beaten down, the poor, the powerless and you. You either need someone now or will someday. When you have lost your voice I want to be there. When terror grips your heart and you need someone to turn to, I want to be that person. Your advocate. Your voice.
The world of advocacy happens everywhere. Being a politician would put me front and center, however politicians today are more self serving than servants of the people. I desire to serve people. To be equipped to serve and defend I must be armed. The most powerful educational armor that fits my abilities is a legal degree. Keeping leaders and policy writers in check requires a thorough knowledge of domestic and global laws. Advocating with the full power of the law behind me requires I know what I can do and what I cannot.
The next step for me on this road post-undergraduate studies is law school. Following law school will be connecting with world wide agencies such as UN Watch to be a voice for those who are not being heard.
Along the way, if you need a voice, I will lend you mine.
