When deciding what I wanted to do with the rest of my life I had one thing I wanted to do, to make a change in this world. I have a younger brother who has special education and this was another reason I wanted to go into teaching special education. Seeing how my brother’s teachers have affected not only his academic career but also his social life makes me want to have that kind of relationship with my students as well. I want to provide this for my students and help them succeed in all aspects of life. I chose the path of becoming a special education teacher so that I could do everything I could to help children excel not only in education but also, with their future. I would do this by taking the extra step to help the students with their schoolwork, their social skills and anything that they wanted or needed help with. I would work with their parents as well to see what they think their children need work or help with. Through my lesson plans I would incorporate activities that improved their social and cognitive skills. My goal through these activities would be to enable each one of my students potential that they hold to help them become contributing members of today’s society. In my classroom I would have the mindset of making sure I do everything I can to ensure that I am giving my students the best environment and educational setup that I possibly can.
