I want to finish my degree in criminal justice so that I can become a youth advocate or youth counselor. I had a very ugly childhood that no child should have to suffer with an absent father and drug addict mother and step dad, living with my grandparents while my mother served jail time after we lived in the ghetto. I want to help young teens/preteens realize that just because they had a lousy childhood or upbringing doesn’t mean that you have to follow in those footsteps and become what your parents were or did. I did not grow up to be a product of my environment. I grew up above and beyond what I lived and suffered through. I graduated high school with straight A’s and I want to help other kids know and understand that they can work hard and get straight A’s and have a better life and with a better life we can have a better world when they become a better person. I’m tired of people thinking they are entitled to handouts and I’m tired of people using the excuse that they are the way they are because of how they grew up or that they had a crappy life. It is nonsense and they can rise above it just like I did without excuses or help. I want kids to be upstanding citizens again and I want to be that person to give them the courage they need to rise above their excuses
