As an international student, I feel that my sense of responsibility for my family is limiting my options. However, if it is possible to earn a living doing what I love most, I would like to embark on an adventure of creating a start-up company with my friends. Entrepreneurship involves a lot of risks, but after having visited some of New York’s emerging start-up firms I have dreamt of becoming a CEO. What enticed me the most about start-up firms is the free and open work environment that fosters creativity and encourages collaboration.
In addition, I have read and become inspired by stories of famous business leaders. One that stood out to me the most is that of the founder of the Hyundai Group in South Korea, Chung Ju-yung. He rose from extreme poverty in post-war Korea, and made a considerable difference to both his life and his country. He led Hyundai to become one of the leading multinational corporations in Korea. Hyundai Group was in turn a leading force in the advent of the Miracle of the Han.
I want to follow Chung’s model of building a business plan that satisfies both my personal success and international enrichment. To realize my dream of creating a start-up firm, I have started making extensive connections with my peers and the alumni and come up with business plans that coincides with market trends and offers innovative products in the IT field such as mobile apps.
