My dream career is to be an Intensive Care Pediatrician. Today’s children are our future, so it’s important to keep them healthy. Doctors change the world every day when they save a life. I want to be a part of that. Not only will I aide in continuing to help save lives, I unfortunately posses the experience of losing a child. However, that will be important when having to deal with the downside of being a doctor. Someone who has not experienced such loss does not understand the suffering of a parent. I will have more to offer the parents than just medical care: my sympathy and emotional support. I have gotten to experience some great medical staff while my son was in the hospital. Although I’ve always wanted to be a doctor, the members of that medical staff are one big reason I want to work in the PICU. There is a need for more compassionate people in the medical field.
My goals to reach my dream will be in small steps. I have already received a degree as a medical assistant. My next step is to become a registered nurse. After I complete my nursing degree I will continue to move up the ladder one step at a time until I reach my goal. It might take me longer than other since I have a family, but I have a lot more drive behind me than most.
