It’s my senior year in college and I have found what I love the most and that is retail. When I started retail as a sales associate, I set small achievable goals with a timeframe in order to proceed up the corporate ladder. When a position opened up in the cosmetic department I accepted the offer, then I applied for an internship in management, after the internship I accepted an offer from another company to be a part time manager so I could finish my degree while working. This has allowed me to further my career along with furthering my education. Right after college, I plan to progress to Assistant Manager, and then within three years I plan to be a Store Manager. Eventually I plan to become District Manager but I feel that I will need some experience before I can consider that dream a reality.
Everyone that I talk to despises retail but I find it to be my true passion because it allows me to be a social butterfly and transform someone’s day. As a cosmetic consultant I was really able to grasp what it was like to completely inspire and alter someone’s day. Customers would come in feeling upset and sought out some retail therapy, so I’d bring them into the cosmetic department not to sell them cosmetics but to give them a makeover. It was an incredible sensation to see how much a woman’s frame of mind improves after a simple makeover.
