My life revolves around amongst many things, my ability to create a sense of happiness within people that cannot normally be achieved within an average modern day individual. As an 18-year boy, I understand the difficulties relating the struggle with this ‘pursuit of happiness’ for younger generations. As for myself and for many others, I know this pursuit essentially boils down to one’s friends and connections he or she makes throughout their lives.
Having been in this situation, in which making friends is somewhat of a gauntlet, I feel as though there are many opportunities that many people are simply not exposed to. In my experience, these opportunities come in the form of events that provide people with a base in which these connections can be made. For me this came in the form of a music festival. Put simply, the friends I met at the festival are still some of the closest friends I have. However, what resonated with me was the appreciation I had and still have for those who organized this event and gave me this opportunity to meet those who I would have never met otherwise.
This event, and the fact that everyday people organized it, allowed me to recognise my potential to do for others what they did for me. Event management and marketing are the fields of expertise that I will enter and thus provide me with a window to allow others to have the opportunity I had presented to me.
