What I love more than anything is being a YoungLife leader. YoungLife is a nondenominational Christian outreach group that focuses on “doing life” with kids in middle school, high school, and college. While YoungLife does put an emphasis on having a relationship with Jesus, it is more about showing up in kids’ lives and loving them well. I love YoungLife because my YoungLife leader did just that for me – she was consistent in my life and cared about things that were going on all throughout high school. Now I get to do that same thing for middle school kids.
Being a full-time YoungLife leader would change the world because it would mean I could spend all of my time showing kids they have value and that they are loved by someone, unconditionally. Middle school, high school, and college are formative years and students struggle a ton with self-worth and identity. Helping them put their identity in something bigger (Jesus), changes their lives and allows them to see they are truly loved. I love being able to bring kids to this Truth and helping them realize it to it’s full potential.
Working for YoungLife would change the world because more and more people would start to realize they are loved, which frees them up to love others. As cheesy as it sounds, everyone would start to love everybody in the end. This is my goal as a YoungLife leader.
