If I could choose to pursue my biggest passion, I would pursue a traveling yoga teaching career. The positive effects yoga has had on my mental well-being is insurmountable, and I long to share the healing it has to offer with the world.
My passion for yoga began a year after my first yoga class. I realized that yoga had relieved me of weekly, non-epileptic seizures; a life-altering medical condition I was diagnosed with at the age of 14. Having weekly seizures limited my ability to attend class, perform in sports and enjoy daily activities with friends and family. Medication became a tiresome, trial and error process. At first, I sought out yoga because it was a way for me to be physically active without putting too much strain on the body. I fell in love with the way it made me feel almost immediately, without even realizing the benefit it was working toward.
I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the many benefits of yoga. If it has helped me so much, I know I can help others help themselves. This is something I truly feel passionate about. To work toward this goal, I will need to attain a national yoga teaching certificate. From there, I will begin teaching local yoga classes, and slowly expand to teaching classes across the globe. At the end of the day, life is about helping people, and that is exactly what I would like to do.
