My name is Daleisha Robinson, and I am currently enrolled in Borough of Manhattan (BMCC) full time for the Fall 2014 Semester. I am interested in this scholarship because it gives me the opportunity to think, hope, and make my goals a reality even if for a minute. If I could earn a living doing what I love most, I would be a writer. I love to write. I love the way that writing makes me feel, the way that I can express myself without boundaries, judgment, or interruptions. When writing, I feel that I find better ways to express myself, because of the opportunity that I have to think something through. I feel that when speaking, one does not that have the full opportunity or time to fully think on a subject before forming an opinion. In my opinion most speaking consist of a quick dialogue, and in order to continue the dialogue one must act rapidly and form an opinion a lot quicker than when writing.
I know that at times when I read certain books, a very good writer can make me understand the way that they feel about certain situations, while making me form my opinion on the subject matter. In addition a very good writer can debate both angles of the situation, while still making their opinion clear, and allowing the reader to still form their own opinion apart from what the writer has written. That is the kind of writer I would love to be. I believe that if writers were able to find better ways of hypnotizing the reader into reading that the literacy rate in America would increase, that many more people would enjoy reading and writing instead of always watching Television. I believe that writing and reading are one of the same. I think reading and writing can benefit the society, and make people better. I believe that if people found better ways of writing then many people would not have this built up aggression, and would be able to express themselves better. In my opinion writing can be considered a silent view into a person’s brain. One can truly get to know someone by the way they write. I know it is easier said than done, but I really do think that writing a simple essay on your views, and opinions can make a world of a difference in today’s world.
