I can remember it like it was yesterday- my mother would come home after a 10-hour day, sit on the edge of my bed and pick up one of my favorite books, ‘Richard Scarry’s What Do People Do All Day?’. The vivid colors and silly pictures made me want to draw cats driving cars and dogs patrolling the streets in uniform- keeping all the people safe. Ever since I could pick up a pencil, I have wanted to be an artist. If I could earn a living doing what I love most, I would want to earn a living as a children’s book illustrator. The drawings I remember as a child helped put me on the track I am on today, and I couldn’t be happier. As cliché as it is, I do think that children are our future, and I want to help introduce art to a young audience and hopefully expand their horizons long before they even realize they are there.
