Ever since I was a little kid I have always had a passion for helping people. I used to go with my mother to work with her in the school districts with children with special needs. Playing ball with them, assisting them to their classes, just simply playing with them. I fell in love with these children! They became my friends. As I grew up I began relizing that there were not many opportunities for these children. Yes, they could go to regular to school, maybe if they were lucky participate in a sport. But they all have one thing in common, they love to dance! I researched different companies that had special needs participates, back then there were none. In the last five years we have seen a change in our society, there are now 10 or more special needs companies including the recent addition of wheelchair dancing in the United States. Who would ever thought a girl who was fighting for her life at eight years of age, being homeschooled by her mother would have dreamed for this big of a change and to be part of it. Yes, I was part of Saint Louis, Mo biggest shift, by traveling and teaching dance at several different studios teaching them how to teach these precious children. The biggest is funded by Albert Pujols Foundation located in Edwardsville, IL. At Premier Pirouettes Dance Studio. I have had a lot of disappointments too, some studios I was successful while others turned me down for fear I didn’t know what I was doing. In the last few years I have tried to start my own, even mentored under a two different studios. It didn’t work out they ripped me off. Even with all the ups and downs I still thrive. I will not give up until I see my business built and thriving itself. Not only would this scholarship help to finish my degree, but could also be a a start of a foundation to fund future entrepreneurs’ like myself. This is my career goal, it is my dream. This Is what I love the most!
