I have known that I wanted to be a doctor for some time now, but it wasn’t until recently that I learned what really wanted to do with my medical degree. This past August, I had the chance to travel to the Dominican Republic and Haiti on a medical mission trip. I had no idea what to expect when I left for the trip, but I was ready for the unexpected. On the third day of my trip, I got to help run a clinic in a small community in Haiti. When the end of the day came, I didn’t want to leave. Those people had no other access to medical care. The clinic we set up was the only way they could get the medicines they needed. I didn’t like feeling that after I leave nobody will be there to help them. Ever since that day, I decided I want to travel to the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and internationally to help people who don’t have access to medical care. Therefore, if I could earn a living being a humanitarian doctor, then that’s what I would be. It would be an honor to get to travel the world and help people who are in dire need of medical care. I hope I can find a way to practice medicine internationally because it would be my dream career!
