Chances are, someone in your life has been affected by a chronic illness or disease such as heart disease or cancer. Did you know that although these are some of the main causes of death in America that a proper diet and physical activity can greatly decrease your risk? In today’s society, more people lean towards convenience foods rather than foods that offer nutrient density because these foods are much faster to prepare. However, my goal is to get people to realize that your health is worth those extra five minutes. Would you rather spend weeks in a hospital or a few minutes preparing a healthy meal? Today in America, the National Health and Nutrition Examination states that more than 1 in 3 adults are obese. Obesity is related to over 30 illnesses, all of which are preventable chronic diseases. Just how much does eating healthy affect your body? According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we have a shocking sixty three percent less chance of dying from chronic illnesses if we maintain a healthy weight. It is my goal and passion to earn a living helping others live a long, healthy life. I am currently working on achieving my bachelors in Community Nutrition, knowing that without a doubt I will make my dream a reality one day soon.
