Traveling and experiencing different cultures is one of the greatest joys in life. Seeing the different ways people live, the different perspectives, religions, and traditions they have, the different ways they dress, and the different foods they eat can open up worlds of knowledge and understanding. Personally, I would enjoy earning a living through traveling and relaying my adventures through a blog, magazine, or book in the hopes of enlightening others about the wonderful world that lies beyond their comfort zone. Neale Donald Walsch said, “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” If we simply stepped outside our normal realms and broadened our minds we would hold the key to history and other cultures, taking in all that life has to offer. Hopefully, I would encourage others to throw off their indignation and discrimination of other races. Ethnocentrism should no longer be a popular thought. Walt Whitman once wrote, “Be curious, not judgmental.” We are all human beings and we should seek to understand each other even when we do not agree on one another’s choices. Without a healthy respect for all cultures and ways of life, racism and oppression will prevail when in reality we should strive for acceptance and understanding. For only when we come together and learn from one another will we make this world a better place and that begins with stepping outside of our comfort zones. “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” ~St. Augustine
