I could really use the scholarship, as I would want to use it towards accomplishing the goal of earning degrees that could help prepare and equip me for helping those with rougher pasts.
The work area I want to enter in to is to encourage, guide, love, and counsel children in the foster system. I want to help them be mentally stable in a very unstable life where they never know how long they will be anywhere, if they will ever have a family to care about them, and where their lack of trust of people is growing daily. I also want to be prepared and mentored on how to take care of these kids in my personal life as I would love to foster and adopt. To do this, after finishing my second year at Word of Life, I plan to attend Davis College of New York to earn a Bachelor’s degree in counseling psychology.
To be asked to talk to someone who may not seem to care about them as much as something else just increases their lack of trust and will close them up more. With the scholarship, I could focus more on the teens who need my full focus and attention on their lives instead of loans. I also hopefully could be able help them financially in the future with some of their college payments.
I want to serve those who feel they have no one. I want to encourage and help financially, the future generation.
