I haven’t made a New Year’s Resolution that I’ve stuck with in years, but I was determined to change that. This year I stepped out of my comfort zone and said I was going to travel more. By travel, I don’t mean going on extravagant adventures to foreign countries spending hundreds of dollars, but rather, exploring cities that I’ve never been to but are within the United States. Since then, I’ve been to four different cities on a college student’s budget. Exploring cities is something that I’d like to do for the rest of my life.
In order to make my dream into a career, I would start a foundation and use the funds raised to support those who have never been out of their hometown or state – to show them the beauty of the world and do something great for it along the way. I’d promote public transportation, local farmers, recycling, and other going green efforts by funding mission trips to different communities throughout the US and eventually throughout the world. Companies like Google Inc., LG Electronics, and PepsiCo, who have successful green efforts, would be my inspiration, and I would reach out to them for help. Traveling used to be just a thing you did on vacation, but I’d love to do it for a full-time career while also making the world a better place to live.
