Since I was six years old, basketball has been the cornerstone in my life that truly represents who I am. However, that all was tested when I tore my ACL my senior year of high school. That was by far my lowest point in my life, but I was so driven to work hard and still accomplish my goal of playing college basketball. After a year and a half of pushing myself both physically and mentally, I made my dream come true of playing college basketball.
If I could have any job in the world, I would choose to be a motivational speaker. Tearing my ACL taught me that I can do anything I set my mind to, and I want to uplift others to do the same. I know that I can change the world, because I can show people that it doesn’t matter what your age, race, sex, or financial situation is; if you believe in yourself, you can do anything you set your mind to. There are potential leaders, doctors, and activists in our world who need to be told that they can do anything in life if they believe in themselves. Using this strength, I am running for Miss California USA 2015 because I want to lead by example and show that you can do anything in life you set your mind to. Change begins with a single step, and I want to be the role model that leads the way.
